Joe John$on is a Loser

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, I doubt the Nets buy Johnson out. I just don't see them doing that.

A safari for a dude who would play like 15 MPG for us if that...

I dunno, but I want him!

Some food for thought on Johnson.....

He started out slow this season....he really was awful in December and January but he has been really good the last 22 games.

His splits since January 1st:

22 games
82/170 FG - 48.2%
43/96 3 PT - 44.5%
13.6 PPG, 4.6 AST, 3.5 REB

Those numbers are silly.

Additional advanced stats that like him:

His RPM wins: 2.81 (19/79 among SF's).
His ORPM: 0.36 (16/79 among SF's).

Additional advanced stats that don't:

His DRPM: -1.06 (55/79 among SF's).
His RPM: -0.70 (28/79 among SF's).

He seems like a good bench scorer but at this point in his career, he doesn't do much on the defensive end.

One of the things that is really painful about looking at the Brooklyn numbers is it absolutely SUCKS that Hollis-Jefferson went one pick before the Cavs slot. He is a great defender as a rookie on an absolutely horrendous defensive team. It's absolutely depressing.

Hollis-Jefferson is #2 among SG's in DRPM, his DefRTG of 98.9 is better than a guy like Shumpert. Seeing how he ranks this season just makes me depressed. What an amazing addition he would have been as a perimeter defender that late in the draft.

Using DRPM to Gauge or rate defense is just lazy and it doesn't tell the story. especially if you trying to evaluate the effectiveness and contributions the player would make on a different roster.
It doesn't take into account schemes. it doesn't tell you who they are guarding (especially now with Nellyball the rage.).

+/- inues has its used mostly to predict how a player might do in a certain lineup compared to another.

Is the guy defending an area of the court or is he given a specific assignment. does the team have him switch out at the paint or switch into a perimeter defense etc

I understand people want a magic number to evaluate people defensively but there isn't one. perhaps as player tracking stats become more available those metrics can be applied to some type of formula to give a nice accurate defensive value but until then. DRPM is limited in what can be gleaned from it.

His development would be completely different in a different situation, especially that of in Cleveland. He would either be on the bench and only get playing time in garbage minutes or he would have been dealt already.

Disagree...reports out there were the Cavs were really bummed they missed out on RHJ and even tried to acquire him from Portland before Brooklyn traded for him. That doesn't scream "we aren't going to give him a chance" to me...RHJ would be awesome on this team, both now and as a developing player, which we are lacking in right now.

Missing out on Hollis-Jefferson truly sucks. I thought we had him...

I honestly think the Pointer pick was a clear indication they were really targeting Hollis-Jefferson. Pointer is the very lite version of Rondae, but you can kind of piece together what they were looking for. Young, athletic wing with all the defensive potential in the world that they could develop.

This is why I think they should target JaKarr Sampson with the second roster spot.

This isn't an RCF safari unless someone posts this image...

Boy JJ would make us the undisputed favorite in the East (if we weren't already) and really put us at maybe even odds vs the Spurs and really closes the gap on GSW. We just get killed when Livingston is in there.
