Kidd Wants To Be A Cav Next Season

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ummmm -- he does have a family. And if the Mavs offer him a shit ton more money, he will be staying with them. Championships are only worth so much -- millions of dollars for your family is worth much more.

Besides -- I'm still not sure he's a priority depending on what we do about a SG. If we can move Delonte to the bench to run our second unit. That's a MUCH better option than an aging Kidd.

Not for me. I do not not want Delonte running the point. He is SO much better when he is off the ball.

Kidd is ain't the final stage in his career, and there is one thing missing - a ring.

He wants a ring, simple as that. He will move to the team that gives him the best chance to get one, at this stage in his career money isn't that important imo

I hope Jason has a sit down with our boys (Shaq, Bron) this off season and discuss Kidds career. Kidd should know that he doesn't have many years left to contribute at this level and that if he wants a championship as a MEANINGFUL contributor then he should sign on with a legit contender instead of a team like Dallas who may not make the playoffs next year for all we know.

I'm not about to read all 17:eek: pages, but has a S&T been brought up with us giving up AV and getting Kidd in return? If so what are the feelings on this, assuming (big assumption) we get CV31.

I realize everyone is excited about Kidd and all...but Dallas is probably going to offer him 8 million a year, and we're probably going to offer him 2 million a year.

I could see a player leaving a few million on the table(1-3) to win a ring, but when you're talking about quadroupling your potential salary, you're going to do it...especially if the team you're currently on may not be a contender, but is at least a playoff team.

Remember, Kidd is coming off of a contract making 20 million dollars. His lifestyle might not be able to AFFORD playing for 2 million dollars a year. Take your paycheck, divide it by ten. Go ahead, I'm waiting. He's going to take the 8 million dollars Dallas gives him and he's gonna set up Dirk and hit a bunch of open threes until his knees fall off.

This is why a S&T for Andy would be perfect, but this is dependent on them having an intrest in AV.

Karl Malone and Gary Payton were the first to take pay cuts to have the chance to win it all. And it wasn't a small cut either, from what I remember. They took the VET's MINIMUM. They clearly were still good enough to produce on any given team, but they wanted a ring.

Just think for a sec. Jason probably knows that the chances of the Mavs winning it all are not that good. The Spurs will clearly be better while the Lakers are up there with the Nuggets, Hornets, Blazers, etc. So it's up to him if he really wants in win a ring. He could make that decision, but it's never been a popular one in this country.

Either way, trying to out spend the Mavs would be stupid. Kidd could clearly fall off if they pay for enough years. So I'm not wasting my breath for this guy. It's a one year rental to go ring-hunting. If Kidd wants to be the rich man, fine. I'm sure the Mavs will get stuck the same way the Hornets dd with James Posey...

Cuban doesn't want to let Kidd go because he refuses to admit that trading Harris for Kidd was a mistake.

I'd rather keep AV to be honest...

Yea why would you even sign & trade av for kidd:headbang:...kidd would likely be here for 1yr,maybe 2 if we get lucky

They also cannot afford to lose him. The PG position would look very bad for Dallas if this were to happen. I've been on some Dallas message boards and most fans think Dallas should offer Kidd a large contract, money wise, not because of his talent but because of their need for him.

I don't personaly believe we should S&T AV for Kidd, but if a 2 guard comes available that we could S&T AV for that would help us now and later I think we should do it. For example if Gerald Wallace became available then would it not make sense to S&T AV for him? Or if Danny Granger or Tayshaun Prince, or whoever made us better became available wouldn't it make sense to trade him. But for Kidd, no.

I agree. A S&T for Kidd with AV would be about as smart as accidentally smashing your balls between the toilet seat and the toilet when you sit down to take a shit...not that I've ever done something like that.

Looks like Kidd is meeting with the Knicks...

Knicks To Meet With Jason Kidd Wednesday
Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Free agent point guard Jason Kidd plans to meet with New York Knicks officials Wednesday morning, the first day of the free-agent recruiting period, the New York Daily News reports.

Kidd is scheduled to meet with Knicks president Donnie Walsh and coach Mike D’Antoni early Wednesday, according to the newspaper. However, Kidd has said he would give the Dallas Mavericks the first chance to re-sign him. Kidd also is expected to speak with the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Knicks are interested in Kidd for two reasons: 1) he would be an upgrade over PG Chris Duhon and 2) he could help recruit LeBron James should the Cavaliers star become a free agent next summer.
