Kyrie Irving Trade Ideas

There's 12 other guys on the roster. If any of Tristan, Smith, Delly, Moz, Shump, or AV were traded - that would be considered a "big" move.

There's just no way Griffin trades away Love after trading Andrew Wiggins to get him. Wiggins could have gotten us almost anyone in the league. You don't trade Wiggins in one year for a guy you ultimate trade for Jae Crowder.

Kyrie Irving is a superstar. You don't trade 23-year old superstars on team-friendly contracts.

Guys in here are looking at Kyrie only within the confines of this season, while he's recovering from injury. It's simply ridiculous. Look at Irving last season. He was our second best player, and offensively, he was arguably the most effective scoring option we had.

You don't trade a guy like that unless you know you're getting better not only now but in the foreseeable future.

Yup right now I want Morris as everyone can see and maybe a suprise and the site crashing move might be A.V the more I think about it. Trading AV would just... Okay anyways i entertain Kyrie ideas for fun. I know he won't be dealt and if he was I would be pissed for real. Even for Paul. Love and Irving are young and could lead us on after Bron. However Griff would be a fool not to add via TPE before the deadline.

My bad for derailing the thread... You guys knock yourselves out.

Exactly. If Irving gets back into his midseason form from last year, we will be right there with the Warriors, and IMHO, ahead of the Spurs.

I think people forget just how good we were last season, even while playing hero ball.

Agreed. But that's a big IF.

Agree, this is the most likely scenario.

But, what if?

Isn't that fun question what trade threads are for?

:)

I was right there with you until we fired Blatt, promoted Lue and hired Mike Longabardi. All of that suggests Morris will not be a Cavalier, and I'm very confident in that -- unless we find that Longabardi had a good relationship with Morris (which I doubt).

Trading AV would just...

Should have been done years ago.

That's cool. I just think a lot of the ideas don't make sense for both teams. The Kyrie for Paul trade is the only one that I've seen that remotely makes sense because of James' relationship with Paul. But outside of that, it'd be very unusual to trade for a true PG when you have the best ball dominant point-forward in history already on your team.

I know he won't be dealt and if he was I would be pissed for real. Even for Paul. Love and Irving are young and could lead us on after Bron.

That's completely right.

I agree.. I think Gilbert and Griff will look to be frugal and I think LeBron and Rich Paul will press them hard to use the TPE - even on Morris.

Is it? He's played quite a few seasons. Unless we assume he's suffered permanent damage and such a significant loss of athleticism (which he doesn't rely upon), then I don't see why he couldn't get back to where he was over the next 30+ games.

Kyrie is a finesse player, he's missing shots he'd normally make, likely because of poor conditioning, nervousness, and perhaps he's a bit bummed by everything going on.

Got it. Point made.

Can we go back to our crazy trade thread now? Because that's all this is. Get over it.

Just be ready to hear shit when he inevitably returns to form...hope you are ready for it, cause Gouri still gives those posters shit over 2 year later from the last time this happened...and it would just be a "crazy trade thread" if you didn't proceed to say its a possibility...

Yep I am a very imaginative person so I always like think about what could happen. Or how the team would be, trading K.I would piss everyone off and be dumb but in a way it is fun to think about and come to terms with the fact it might happen sometime down the road. My gut feeling is Irving retires a Cav though.

For real...it was a bone injury...if it was a ligament like Rose, I'd be far more into it...and if he played like Rose, I'd be all for it...but he doesn't...this is a guy who still looks nervous heading into traffic, on defense, while splitting doubles, and when attempting contested layups, still looks sluggish a few minutes into his burn, but still gives you those glimpses of what he is for stretches...he'll be back...

Speculation is fine.. I'm not opposed to it... I just feel there's better uses of effort, like how we can turn the rest of our assets not named Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving into good trades for the Cavaliers. I think that's more fun because it's more thought provoking.

To me, it's just too easy to say "Kyrie for whatever," because there's only a few guys in the league that teams wouldn't trade for Ky straight up.

Anyway.. I've said my peace, and I'm somehow still in the thread.. :chuckle:

I trade Kyrie for 2 PGs at this point...Curry and Westbrook...I trade him for 1 big...Ant Davis...I'm with you, I'm out of here...can feel the ulcer forming already...

Meh. This is a very positive development, @gourimoko. Now all this is contained in two threads. Easily skipped if they make you sad.

wtf is this thread?

Do people realize that trading elite talent -- I understand that Kyrie hasn't looked great since coming back -- makes it harder to win it all? I also understand that Love and Kyrie are a PnR problem against Golden State and San Antonio. But trading them, and lower our overall talent level and having to entirely reconfigure how we play basketball, makes it that much more difficult to come out of the East. These trade scenarios are absolutely asinine.

If the Cavs trade either Kyrie or Kevin for a package of discontents and/or talent-no-more-than-all-star-level it will be the end of a championship hopes this season. I get it, we're Cleveland fans and we don't know what a winning team looks like, but no excellent team trades superstars for discontents and/or role players. It sets your franchise back years.

Ooooh. I'm scared.

Like I said, I have no problem saying I was wrong. Afterall, we're just bullshiting about a meaningless athletic event.

I don't give two shits if my future prediction about the Cavs is wrong. You seem to be really bothered by it.
