LeBron being LeBron

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The drop in LeBron's Q rating likely indicates a certain drop in brand value. Of course it's not hitting him in the wallet at this point because his sponsors are all sticking by him; and he can certainly rebound depending on how things go moving forward.

I can see him laying low for a year and letting his game talk for him, and then coming out a year from now with a PR blitz designed to remake his image. At least that'd be the normal approach. I could also see him carrying on as-if nothing ever happened.

Well he'll have no choice but to lay low, the season starts soon.

... and do you call hosting a Dynasty Party on Oct. 21st laying low?

I mean, let's face it, the American public is quick to forgive adulterers since the majority already suspects athletes to be that way. We're a little less forgiving of those we perceive as "quitters" (think Vince Carter...).

Bottome line is winning and distance(time) cures a helluva lot. Kobe quit, Kobe bad mouthed, Kobe asked to be traded, Kobe essentially broke up a dynasty, Kobe ratted out a teammate etc.....all of that is barely a footnote in people's mind with regard the Black Mamba (a real self-appointed nickname)

Assuming the Heat win chips, the in time: The Decision, the claims of quitting, narcissim(sp?) etc... will fade away and LeBrons popularity will jump.

Its nothing he needs to worry too much about... Just focus on getting that Gold Ball and things will workout.

...and Wince's issues are less about him mailing it in while in Toronto, and more about him being soft, and disappearing in the clutch when he's trying.

What also helped Kobe was the realization that Shaq was an awful teammate at every stop and always left teams on bad terms, so it's very possible that for all those things you listed about blaming Kobe for the fiasco that occurred between him and Shaq, Shaq himself was at just as much, if not MORE fault than Kobe Bryant, so, again, the three or four people on this message board that continually want to try and argue this point based on Kobe keep missing the obvious...

you simply can't compare them, and even if you could Kobe's earlier troubles have cost him a lot of potential endorsement dollars and he is STILL one of the most disliked athletes in the world even though he has earned back some respect(Because he has done things as the unequivocal LEADER, crunch time player, as THE MAN, and wouldn't have it any other way).

Regardless, there is no legitimate comparison to be made so your points really aren't legitimate in of themselves.

Funny{...funny how} the ONLY time its not comparable is when the comparison HELPS LeBron.

..irregardless of that situation, my point remains the same.

Winning chips and time/distance will improve LeBron's image around the league.

And its not a point I'm debating. I agree that winning championships, and time, will eventually repair most of his image (there are still many who will hate him forever, just like there are many who will never like Kobe). All I'm saying is, it will take longer than people may think.

And no, winning "chips" (rofl) will just make people hate him more. Unless you're from Miami. You aren't from Miami, now, are you?!

I hated Michael Jordan for what he did to the Cavs in the playoffs year after year, and have never bought anything he's put his name on ... but that didn't stop millions of others.

I never meant to imply that LeBron wasn't going to be out partying constantly ... I'm talking about major sponsored ad campaigns like ones he's done in the past.

Albeit, I suppose if they did one that played on his notoriety, it might work. For instance, imagine an ad campaign where LeBron is getting constantly booed and heckled for all of his various sins ... and then at the end end he finally says "Man, I really need a ________" (insert product here).

The above ad concept is

Yes because we know the general public hates champions.

Irregardless is not a word.

Secondly, okay, so are you disagreeing that the Heat are one of the top 2 or 3 most hated teams in the NBA?

Irregardless is not a word.

Pretty much is. It's been in common use for 90 years. Just because it doesn't fit the English grammar rules, that's not much of a condemnation given how many exceptions those rules already have.

Why not just say "regardless"? Wasn't looking to get into a grammar war, but that is the correct word to use. "regardless" is the word people are looking for when they grab "irregardless" out of thin air.

-Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that “there is no such word.” There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/irregardless?show=0&t=1284658994

- Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term. Although one might reasonably argue that it is no different from words with redundant affixes like debone and unravel, it has been considered a blunder for decades and will probably continue to be so. http://www.answers.com/topic/irregardless

Lesson for today: If you want to teach, get a degree and get paid for it. We don't need message board grammar teachers and spell checkers.

Secondly since you blew your first point so bad...you dont get a second point...which by the way was equally as bad.

So it's slang.

I will now begin typing up my sentences using "dis" and "fo sho" and trying to convince people that these are actually words.

Use regardless, instead. Wait, that's from the notes that you posted. :chuckles:

Oh, and my point that the Heat are one of the most hated teams in the NBA when they have not won anything yet is a bad one? I'd love to see the logic behind that. Wait, you don't have any, which is why you conveniently ignored it.
