Let it all out. The Cavaliers Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If Kyrie flanked that 3 in game 7, who thinks Lue would be the Cavs coach right now the way this team has played in the new year?

I still like him as a head coach. I think like most young coaches, he tends to lean way too much on a set of rotations, and/or going to his key guys for way too long.

I think he still would be actually. He would at least have the rest of this season minimum because Griff isn’t dumb enough to try and close out the rest of the season with Larry Drew as head coach.

Our roster on the other hand might have been looking different right about now though...

What's scary is we did care. We had to trap them on the perimeter eventually, because our on ball defenders, not just Kyrie, Shumpert too, were that bad, which was leading to WIDE OPEN, UNCONTESTED 10 foot jumpers down the middle of the paint.

This is red alert, we are in serious trouble right now on that end stuff.

Offensively, I'm not that worried because Korver and Love are coming back. JR is just getting back and will find his way.

But defensively, we really are not good.

Here's our roster and their defensive ability:

LeBron: literally one of the handful of greatest wing defenders ever when dialed in, even after 14 seasons if last year isnanything to go by.

Liggins: not necessarily a one on one stopper (his ISO defensive stats and DFG% allowed aren't too hot) but defends well within a scheme and has been a plus defender this year.

TT: positive defender but not a world beater difference maker. I really feel that a healthy Bogut would have gotten a lot of minutes, many of them taken from TT. But still, a positive defender.

Love: This has been his best defensive year. Opponents are shooting 1% worse against him than against all others, 5% worse on threes. The team is 7 points per 100 better on defense with him on court.

Shump: Was a top 5 wing defender over the past 5 years aggregate until this year, but he's still a slight + defender at times.

JR: can often provide solid defense although is by no means a defensive stopper.

Kyrie: pretty much awful on defense

Derrick Williams: has been awful his entire career and when LeBron is not on court, we see why.

Deron Williams: not entirely a sieve but not much if a defender anymore

Frye: Nope

Korver: smart, calls out plays, vocal, but a lot slower now and not the defender he once was

James Jones: Good God...

Look at that potpourri of def different shit. One really good defender, a few who can be at times, but mostly garbage. IF this team makes it to the finals this year, it will be (at this rate) the worst defensive team ever to make an NBA Finals.

I'm just here to rant about the injuries.

JR comes back, but Korver has to miss a little time..

Bogut comes in to shore up the D...breaks leg..

Been like this all year. Always something.

Please don't sustain anymore injuries this year.I'd love for our entire team to be in tact for a few weeks before the playoffs.

Celtics have won 3 of their last 5, including 2 of 4 on their current road trip. They have had a good week. I guess that works as a rant, too.

Damn, though the LA and Cle games were further back.

They've lost 5 of their last 9. I'll go with that one. Lol.

To be honest, I'm far more concerned about the Cavs not playing up to their potential than I am about anything regarding what the Celtics do.

In terms of rants: We can't even blame Felder for the continuing team malaise...

I floated in and out of the game tonight and its what ill continue doing. This team continuing to suddenly remember how to play defense the last 3 minutes of every game is honestly insulting to fans. So I'm just gonna be a casual spectator until things change.

Plenty of problems with the team (and it's frustrating, to put it as nicely as possible...).

We have plenty of talent (and should be able to compete properly as a result), but there is some lack of focus. A big lack of focus...

With guys coming in and out of the rotation, not much consistency from the coaching staff either (ex. Korver out/JR in; ex2. LeBron ends 3rd/sits out 4th... the opposite of the previous games).

There is a chance we can turn it on, but we could be cutting it close. Missing some key pieces hasn't helped. Not even getting a chance to try guys out because of injury (*cough* Bogut *cough*).

Other teams that are bringing 110% of their effort to our games (because of the bullseye on our back aka "the Champions") are not going to care how we look either.

And probably the worse of it... is the leader of the team isn't setting a good standard. And the guys will as he goes. One of these days, it'll end up being too little, too late... and then he'll realize it. It worries me, a lot...

Lots of problems here, kinda makes me sick...

And then I'll remember... at least we won the championship last year... so I shouldn't care so much.

/end rant

Legit threat to not get the one seed now. And if Love isn't totally healthy....yea, this team is in danger of losing to fucking Washington with home court. You see the way we get trucked on the boards, if there is no Kevin Love, Washington will do the same damn thing.

All I wanna say is Patrick Beverly looks like a back alley Crackhead.... Beaten with the ugly stick........... Twice!!

But I'd rather have him any day over Shumpert (as was discussed during deadline time -- can completely see why Houston was like nah to that)
