Let it all out. The Cavaliers Rant Thread

(All this said, and when watching the Mavs today I realized we don’t have one player as good as Kyrie Irving…we long for a player of Lebron’s caliber to come again, and seems like we may not even see someone as good as Kyrie in this next iteration of Cavs basketball…)

Kyrie's offensive bag is absurd. If he wasn't such a dumbass, he'd have gone down as all-timer.

I've been really unimpressed by Mitchell in these playoffs. He's either vanished or taken some really questionable shots when we've needed him most.

Site has been CODE RED ever since the third quarter.

Every thread becomes the rant thread and people try to have a serious discussion in the rant thread.

In the spirit of the rant thread I’d like to rant for a minute.

This putrid, terrible, worst coach since the original Olympics in Classical Greece had the team at 2-1 and up 9 points on the road in Game 4 at halftime.

The team then got wiped out in the third quarter.

I‘ll accept that the coach’s offense sucks and he’s not capable of adjusting when needed. I don’t 100% agree with that (as I think some of the problem is a roster fit issue) but for this rant I’ll accept it.

That still by no means excuses a truly terrible performance by the players.

Franz Wagner was 4/5 1/1 3/3 for 12 points and 6 rebounds.

Our entire team was 4/18 2/9 0/0 for 12 points and 7 rebounds (ORL had 16).

Mitchell was 0/4 0/3 0/0 with three turnovers.

Getting outscored 37-10 is primarily on the players. Go ahead and fire the coach but that was a disgraceful performance by our guys.

I’m clinging to the idea that Mitchell is injured…he just doesn’t look like the same guy as pre all star break Mitchell

Of course he didn’t perform too well in last years playoffs either…

I just never feel like I can count on this team to perform well. My logic tells me we should win the series, but my gut tells me that we could very well fold like a cheap lawn chair.

We should have traded whatever picks we had left to get Josh Hart last year.

No thanks....been duped by those assholes one too many times. I'd rather condense an entire season into two hours by watching Choke with Sam Rockwell and be done with it.

Bet you watch the Browns every Sunday though,

Yeah, the players and their attitudes and effort are certainly a concern.

But, to me, that IS on the coach.

Sub with purpose and tactic, not for rotation. Hold players accountable for their lack of buy in with minutes.

This bozo still plays guys long minutes when they stink and don’t try, when it isn’t working, when they don’t shoot 3s, when the match ups clearly don’t make sense.

When JBB had a chance to send a message to the players to keep things going in the right direction, the keep control post All-Star break, he FAILED. He played the players who were wavering MORE, not less.

Those lessons keep the hierarchy, and keep the team moving in alignment..AND they develop and condition your bench to play big minutes at any time.

Every coach has an expiration date, sure, but this guy went against he should have done when he got desperate, and went with hope instead of strategy.

That's the second playoff game in a row that has happened. If so many of the players are having a disgusting performance - not just bad luck in missing good shots - for the second playoff game in a row, isn't that itself a reflection on the coach?

That doesn't make it all on the coach, but the reality is that you can't trade all of your players.

To me, it looks like the players are susceptible to losing faith in their system if things start to go bad, and the coach looks powerless to reverse it. Perhaps they'd respond differently to a different coach with a different system.

Or not. But again, the reality is that if the team as a whole was that bad, it's a problem that goes beyond roster tweaks. JBB and the team still have a chance to reverse the slide and win the series, and maybe show something different. But right now, it looks like a poorly led, uninspired team

JB's calling card is being a motivational, relationships-driven coach.

If he's not able to do that in the postseason, he doesn't belong in his job. It's really that simple.

The whole world knows he struggles tactically. Tom Thibodeaux doesn't scheme up brilliant offense either, but you can bet your life savings he will have his team playing tremendous defense and outworking their opponent.

JB's utter failure is magnified by the fact that the guy across from him is probably the second-worst tactical coach in this year's entire playoffs. He's still outcoaching JB as if our boy is wearing a diaper.

I thought it would be silly to fire him last year. I also thought he was showing signs of growth this season. On both accounts, I was laughably wrong, and the entire organization has been substantially damaged by keeping him around another year.

Listened to the entire Fedor podcast today. He saved it for the very end, but this was confirmation of basically everything this board says:

QUOTE: “players in the lockeroom after this game were basically saying without actually saying it. JB you need to do something to create better looks for us on the offensive end”

THE PLAYERS KNOW THIS GUY SUCKS.
This means they are gonna give up next game
