I don't think Kevin was signed to a contract, just a summer league invite. And isn't DJ Kennedy under contract?

Kevin is on a 3 year partially guaranteed deal according to reports.

Not sure what the deal is with Kennedy..

We extended qualifying offers to Harangody & Erden to give the team flexibility. They're cheap placeholders without fully guaranteed contracts. They may re-sign & be here for a whole season, re-sign & be waived at any point, or not be re-signed at all. Kind of a no-lose situation, yet people still complain about it. :chuckles:

Probably a courtesy waive. My guess is that his agent talked to the front office about his chances of getting minutes with Waiters on the team, didn't get an answer he liked, and was willing to give up his preseason money to land on a different team.

Hope he makes it somewhere. Seems like a good enough kid who kinda got screwed over at the beginning of last year. He was always one of the first off the bench to high five the starters

Hmm. If Manny's agent did ask for his release, I sure hope he looked around to see if there actually was a better opportunity. Being the 3rd SG behind Waiters and Gibson isn't so bad.

It's not nearly as good as being behind Parker and Gibson though. And if the Cavs sign a Sonny Weems or something like that, it starts to get likely that both Manny and DJ Kennedy get cut in October. It's a lot hard to make a team when you are cut in October than it is if you were there for the full camp. Not to mention, Waiters will likely be chewing up a lot of the summer league minutes too.
