MLB 2024 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Baseball is probably the only sport where you can still compete spending 1/2 the money of most of the league. Allowing the team to decide when you are major league ready and delay your service time until they do pushes the players closer to their prime during most of their time with the drafting team while also forcing them to play for pennies on the dollar initially if they are immediate stars. Compare that to the NBA where you are burning your time with very young players that could be 3-4 years away from being truly impactful or the NHL where you biological age drives unrestricted free agency.
IMO the MLBPA does a great job of taking care of the star players but a horrible job of taking care of the young players (and minor leaguers although I don't think they technically represent them).

That is changing.. albeit, slowly.. Minor leaguer players no longer qualify as "slave labor".. but, just barely..

Agree. But that is the only way the low budget teams can compete. They need to get $20 million per year production from guys making about 10-25% of that. I have always been surprised that the bottom 15 players on each roster haven't pushed back more in CBA negotiations or that the owners haven't successfully promised more to the back of the roster guys to cap the earnings on the top guys.

It comes down to what the players want. Those players in power fight for American Dream of saying (just like many Americans play the billion dollar lotto) - go big or go home

What is this about bat manipulation?

It was a few pages back... If I remember correctly some stealing signs issues type of rumors...

Also Cape Cod uses wooden bats so success rates translate from the Cape Cod league (Aka I am waiting to the Cape Cod league to say IF Condon is the top pick or not).

Coach is there another meaning for aka that I'm just not aware of? I keep seeing you use aka and I read it as also known as and chuckle thinking it must have another meaning

Condon was not nearly as good in the COD

Order the Bazzana jersey and get it ready for 2025

But, also remember that he was a dual sport in HS (QB). So, he sat his first year. His Cod year is after his first full college year. Would be interesting if he played the Cod this year but he may be doing the pre-draft workouts/tours instead.

You realize the CCL is played from June to August, right?

And that draftees for this year don’t play in it this year, right?

Nope, didn't know that one, I thought they played until the draft, my bad

Uh, with me, probably not... When you grow up with a speech issue you make some weird tendencies lol I've always kind of done the aka when something I wanna say doesn't come out right and say it a different way. I add aka to represent the layman's terms in my head lol

Either way as Bimbo pointed out I guess draftees don't go to Cape Cod, which is a place he badly struggled at in 23...
