New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Punisher dropped today on Netflix.

Only about fifteen minutes into the first episode, so a bit too early for any real impressions. Will post more after I get a little further.

Also, fun fact, the ex-girlfriend's bosses' brother is a supporting character on this show. Appears in a couple of episodes, although I don't believe I've seen him yet.

5 episodes into the Punisher and really liking it. It seems like a good mix of drama and action. John Berthal has done a good job. I have not read much of the Punisher comics so dont know much about how his character should be, but based on the movies I saw it seems like the Punisher was a no non-sense pure killing machine who does not like to talk. Jon Berthals seems a bit more 'human'? For what it is worth I am enjoying it.

Depends on the version of the Punisher. I'd say the show is pretty true to the MAX version of the character, which was a bit more grounded in reality and set apart from the rest of the Marvel comics universe (MAX was it's own label and not part of the greater universe).

Personally, I thing Punisher is at his best when he's not constantly interacting with superheroes. The MAX comics were so good because the villains tended to be regular, non-powered people. There were some great mob stories there, and some more ridiculous villains as well like a maniac Russian general that Frank tangles with a couple of times.

I just really hope they adapt Up Is Down and Black Is White on the show at some point. That was probably my favorite Punisher arc. The Russia stuff was fun, too. If I recall, Nick Fury tasks Frank with a mission into Siberia to rescue a kid who has some sort of weaponized virus that SHIELD wants.

I'd recommend giving Punisher MAX a read if you want some a good idea of where some of this version of the character came from.

I shall give that a shot - Quick question: What is ur take on the Punisher movies? All of them (Dolph , Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson)

The Dolph one was just awful, as were most comic book movies at that time.

The Tom Jane one was entertaining. Not good, but not an embarrassment. Not a perfect adaptation of the character but it's probably the best actual film.

The Ray Stevenson one was probably the most true to the character and the violence from the MAX comics (and the other more adult Punisher comics), but still not a very good movie. Liked McNulty as Jigsaw though.

One episode into Punisher; fucking awesome.

Done with Punisher and I liked it. Sure, It has its inconsistencies and occasional slowness but it was gritty and good. @David. I know u are not big on the superhero genre but I think u will like this one. I think a comparison with Homeland and 24 is probably more reasonable than with Luke Cage or AKA Jessica Jones. Having said that I still like Daredevil season 1 better.

JIGSAW ALERT !!!! Woo Hoo !

About 6 episodes into Punisher.

Really solid show.

Not exactly shocking given how well the character was played in Season 2 of Daredevil.

Why will I like it?

Finished Punisher. Really good.

Netflix seems to do best with these "superhero" shows that aren't very superhero like. Like Iron Fist wasn't as bad as critics wanted it to be but it was pretty meh.

I'd probably go:

Daredevil 1
Punisher 1
Daredevil 2

JJ
Cage

Iron Fist

Agreed in the rank in its entirety.

I haven't been able to get into the marvel shows on netflix since Jessica Jones. Dare devil has been my favorite though by far. I downloaded some episodes of the tick for my trip and I wish I had downloaded the entire season. I'm loving that show.

It’s Always Sunny leaving Netflix in December! Noooooooo!!!
