New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm watching punisher. It's better than the other shit. I think it'd be really good if they didn't fuck with the cliche comic/superhero shit.

Nicholas winding refn has written and directed stuff that includes developing violent action scenes that seemed more realistic. Gritty. Drive, pusher are absolutely fantastic.

It would be really good if it was more like that, but I know the audience that's out there right now consuming this stuff.

A lot of Punisher's best stories are more gritty crime stories than the military conspiracy stuff from the Netflix show. I'm hoping the show moves more in that direction in future seasons.

Edit: It probably will too, because I'm guessing he wraps up this revenge story in season one, although I'm not finished yet so can't say for sure.

The Punisher was fantastic, just finished yesterday.

Didn't realize Billy Russo was going to become Jigsaw. Forgot that was his real name in the comics.

Overall, though, I agree. It's the best Marvel show since the first season of Daredevil. I thought it had the same issue as all the Marvel Netflix shows in that it probably could have been about three episodes shorter, but it was very enjoyable.

Regarding your spoiler,

I was in literally the same exact boat. Actually am not even a comic guy but I have cursory knowledge, and it had totally slipped my mind too until Frank was running his face down that broken glass and I was like oh shit. Anyway, was a nice surprise at the end. By the way that scene was fucking brutal. Great acting on both their parts. Also, when Russo clipped Frank's shackles and let him kill Rawlins, that was probably one of my favorite scenes of the series.

I thought this series ended very very strongly which helped its cause. A couple scenes near the end of the series were unforgettable. Overall, a nice change of pace from the other Marvel shows/movies where it seems so pristine and bloodless.

Curb continues to kill it this year.

Jeff in the cowboy getup was hilarious. "The only down side is I have to keep fucking my wife." :chuckle:

I don't get why the Punisher is getting mixed reviews, I think it's pretty damn great. Bernthal is absolutely perfect casting, and gives a ton of depth to a character who usually tends towards one dimensional. I realized that they absolutely nailed the casting with 4/5 of their main characters... So what the hell happened to Iron Fist?

Maybe they thought that he would pull in GoT fans?

The only issue I really had with Punisher was that it was probably a few episodes too long and some of the middle episodes dragged a bit as a result. This is why I think they should have a couple of stand-alone episodes in these shows, or maybe two or three episodes that provide a mostly stand-alone arc that tells a separate story from the main season arc. These characters have thousands of interesting comic book stories to draw from, along with dozens if not hundreds of unused villains. Why not draw from those to mix things up a bit and not just have every show be one self-contained season/story?

In Punisher, for example, maybe Frank's leads on Agent Orange go cold at some point and he decides to go after the mob, which recently killed a few civilians who were collateral damage in a gun fight (drawing both from Frank's actual comic book origin and potentially telling one of the many great mob stories his character has been a part of in the comics). That freshens up the entire season by giving viewers a few episodes to breathe away from the main plot. You could also have a few scenes in each episode that do advance the main plot without devoting the entirety to them.

As for Iron Fist, they just horribly miscast Danny Rand. Dude doesn't look like he knows how to fight, and that's a problem when you're playing a martial arts master. I do think Iron Fist wasn't as bad as the reviews made it appear. It was easily the worst of the Netflix shows, but it wasn't all bad.

Wife and I started Schitt’s Creek over the weekend. First episode was like a 7, so we had to kind of go out on a limb for the next few episodes. For the first couple episodes, we both agreed the characters were just a little too over the top to be relatable.

Sticking with it was worth it. The show really comes into its own as the series goes on. Somewhere around late season 1, it becomes a really solid show. And then in season 2, it becomes an excellent one.

Eugene Levy’s son is really good as the bitchy pansexual (???) son and Eugene Levy and Katherine O’ Hara have always been favorites of mine. Chris Elliot is fucking amazing in everything he’s in and this show is no exception. Eugene Levy’s daughter on the show is smoking hot even though her character is frustratingly idiotic. Katherine O’ Hara is basically her character from Beetlejuice. Stevie, who is kind of a cutie, is pretty much April from Parks and Rec.

For the first few episodes it’s a 7/10 but as it goes on it’s 8.5+. I was LOLing. It’s very much like Arrested Development. You just have to plod through the first few episodes.

Just finished it, what an amazing last two episodes. About as Punisher as you could possibly get.

I thought that the way he killed Rawlins was the most brutal thing I'd ever seen on TV. Whoops, it didn't take me too long to be completely, 100% wrong.

Also, Jon Bernthal is obviously the perfect Punisher, but they also nailed the casting of Russo/Jigsaw. I love how they found the most pretty boy actor possible, played up his vanity and the way everyone noticed and reacted to his looks all season, then destroyed it in the goriest way possible. Amazing all around.

I never watched it, so I started up on Freaks and Geeks. I don't understand at all how this was a one season show. I'd really like to know what happened that made it not get renewed. I bet there are network executives that are kicking themselves in the ass over all of the talent they let move on so quickly.

Halfway through and really liking it.

Pretty rough episode of snl.

One skit talking about how bad it is for women because of men, even though men are much much more victimized by men than women. Using things like women's suffrage as a point.. Sort of clear they aren't familiar with why women didn't vote.

The next skit they're emasculating men for jokes.

Edit :.. And another one.
