Open Discussion (Cavs + related issues)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, but I disagree though. I rather have girth than length though. I thought everyone knew that so I was sure it was basketball related.

Now basketball related, trading for Bledsoe is just a stupid move no matter how you look at it. I would trade Love for more length and shooting at the 4 ( Porter), but I wouldn't touch any player that isn't a versatile 3/4 at the very least. I don't need any more small guards at the 1/2.

The only logical trade for the Cavs is IT and Frye for Bledsoe. Take away the question mark with ITs health and adds defense at the PG position. Bledsoe is under contract for 18-19 at 15 million, which is more of a realistic asset to trade than whatever we can resign IT for. I just don't know if it's logical for the Suns if we don't add any assets.

I want MF players that can play when it matters...period!

Kevin Love combined averages in 2 nba finals:

12.25 ppg
9 rpg
1.15 apg

I know we're setting the bar high hear, but I would be willing to gamble that JJ & Bledsoe could replace that type of production!

We still have Channing if we absolutely need a one-dimensional floor spacer in a series en route to the finals. And getting rid of Love forces Lue's hand to play Zizic!

Love had 17-13 in game 1 on the 2016 finals, then got knocked out of game 2 with a concussion. Missed game 3. Came off the bench in game 4. Took a backseat in game 5 with the rest of the team when Kyrie and LeBron went crazy. Game 6 he picked up the early fouls and only played 12 minutes. In game 7, he was a monster on the glass and played really well in a defensive struggle of a game.

Last year he averaged a double double and outplayed Draymond Green. He was also a monster in the series leading up to the finals.

When I see takes like this, I truly wonder if people even watch the Cavs and Kevin Love play.

I really dont think trading Love for Porter is the answer. I would love to move crowder to first big off bench and get more length there, but Love does things lie rebound that are very under appreciated here.

I just dont see any trades right now that make us better. Need to get IT healthy, see what he adds and get our shooters actually shooting.

The Bullshit Whisperer brought up a decent point on some radio clip he put up. If the Cavs want to hedge their bets for the future a backcourt of IT and Bledsoe isn't a bad starting point. If it takes our 2018 draft pick to do it and we give up expirings in Shump or Frye and filler, we get a much player in Bledsoe than we are going to find with a #25-30 pick.

The man can’t hit a layup on traffic against them. That’s unacceptable. And stop with this outplayed draymond crap. He didn’t draymonds game is completely different. He’s not asked to score at all. He defends everyone on the floor. Love could barely defend zaza and Javel without getting pushed around.

You missed the finals, apparently.

Washington don't do this regardless right now, but Porter is playing the 4 now with success. He matches up perfectly against GSW.. he can guard KD/Green and he is perfect as a switch defender. If we want to matchup better against GSW he is the perfect answer.

He is not a bad rebounder either at 9 rebs per 36 and is a much more consistent shooter.

My problem with Love is that he plays as a Big, but he doesn't do Big things other than rebound. He doesn't set good screens and he doesn't protect the rim very well.

A lineup of Lebron, JR, Crowder, Porter, TT or IT,JR,Crowder, Porter, Lebron is intriguing.

I love Love, but if we want to beat GSW, we to be more efficient than them, and Love being a 2nd option on offense isn't the answer and I don't think he can be if he is matched up against Centers.

Porter turned into a nice player...Kevin Love has producing at an elite level for years. Even when asked to take a back seat.

We are 3 games into 2017, not worth referencing their stats this year.

I can't call Love elite.. He is a great player, but other than rebounding he isn't elite at one thing. He is a good shooter from 3, but not great, okay in mid range, but not great, good passer, but not great and a bad finisher around the rim for a big man. He is a team player and a great guy, but he hasn't been a superstar against our biggest rival.

I'll take Porter and not think twice about it.. he is going to have a monster season.

He is an elite passer for a big man, his IQ is off the charts, his rebounding is excellent & his ability to score in just about every facet is unheard of for a true PF. The production as a 3rd option is about as good as you are going to get and he has produced for nearly his entire career. One cannot assume that Porter can step in and be asked to do what Kevin does and produce similar numbers.

Porter looks good this year, but he's only 3 games into what could be a great season. No way do you even consider Love for Porter. Especially at $24 mil+ a year. He's had one great game to pump up his averages.

That makes sense from the Cavs perspective but I would be amazed if the Suns couldn't get something better from some other team. You'd have to think that short of the Cavs using the Brooklyn pick, teams like Denver have the assets and the need for Bledsoe to beat any Cavs offer.

Love is not an elite passer in the half court, not even close. He lacks the touch that other elite big man have and he lacks the height to see over the defense.
He does have a high IQ that we unfortunately do not use.. he can score in a number of ways, but isn't an efficient scorer and isn't elite at one thing. Love thrives as a volume scorer, but I want my 3rd option to be as efficient as possible, and Love isn't.

Porter had a TS% of .630 last year and he looks more comfortable and aggressive this year. His contract is meh, but he is going to be more than worth it. People were also questioning Gianni's contract and see how he looks today. I don't compare the two obviously, but it's a similar scenario where a player outplays his contract.

I agree that his finals impact is overrated by his fans but dont you think Porter is too low a return? I'd do a DMC for Love (or even IT) if it was available

So if the Suns turned down our offer of Kyrie for Josh Jackson and Bledsoe what makes you think they wouldn't at the very least demand Kevin Love? Are you all seriously placing more value on KL than Kyrie?
Given what we know now, yes I place more value on Love than kyrie. I wouldn't trade Love for their entire starting lineup. Kevin goes out and gets us 18 and 10 every night, never complains about his role, and seems like an all around great locker room guy. We also don't good depth in the front court. Phoenix can demand whatever they want, but we can laugh at them and hang up the phone too.
