Potential destinations for Anderson Varejao

I pose a simple question to the menagerie: Would you trade Andy for James Harden if the Cavs had to take on Perkins as well?

I reckon I would make that deal. Harden+Perkins for Andy+filler is something I also considered while watching the Thunder this past week. Perk has looked awful this season. His contract might hurt them when it comes to resigning Harden and Ibaka unless OKC eventually amnesties him. A big ending up on a Griffin poster like that is never a good thing. You got to figure that might be on his mind if OKC meets the Clips in the postseason. I don't know if they would consider trading Harden but Andy would be a nice upgrade for them in the playoffs. Perkins + TT would be a horrible fit offensively but I'd take Perk if it meant acquiring another foundation piece in Harden. I have no problem spending Gilbert's money on Baron or Perk if it also means adding a Kyrie or Harden type to the team.

I would also love to find a way to get Favors or that Golden State pick from Utah but the odds of that happening seem slim.

I probably would, but Perkins contract is pretty much the same as Andy's, so, from their perspective this would just be getting Harden's contract off the books. And I don't know why they'd want to do that.

lol @ anyone who would ever, ever consider saying no to this, especially given gilbert's willingness to spend.

okc obviously doesn't touch that with a 10ft pole tho.

OKC wouldn't touch that UNLESS they didn't think they could afford to resign Harden.

looking at the rosters Philly might be the perfect trade partner for the Cavs (assuming they would want Varejao). they have the young pieces (Evan Turner, Nikola Vucevic) and don't owe anybody first round picks. right now they are among the best defensive teams in the league, could you imagine adding Andy to their frontcourt rotation?...i think they could give the Heat some serious problems...

Jamison, Av for Brand, Turner and Vucevic 2012 First...

With AV Philly is beast and Antawn is pure bench points. Philly is also relieved of 20 million dollars in salary. Turner is not having an impact iphilly, but fits our scheme well in both age range and ability. We might could include Semi or Hollins in the trade to sweeten the pot. Since Philly gets better in the trade, thier first is not as valuable and by the way they have a lot of roster spots with young guys already.

Not bad but if we're taking on Brands salary I would want an unprotected first for sure or 2 first rounders.

I still think Evan Turner would be the perfect SG next to Kyrie. He should be a target for us when dealing AV.

Fiddling around with the trade checker...I think I found a trade that makes sense for all parties especially if the Cavs are high on Derrick Williams still....I like the inside outside game Thompson and Williams could bring, I just wish Thompson was a little bigger...oh well

Cavs Out: Anderson Varejao
Cavs In: Derrick Williams, Sam Young

Timberwolves Out: Derrick Williams
Timberwolves In: OJ Mayo

Grizzlies Out: OJ Mayo, Sam Young
Grizzlies In: Anderson Varejao

Grizzlies need a PF to fill in while Randolph gets back and unlike Speights would actually be useful once, Z-Bo gets back..Randolph, Gasol and Varejao would be an absolute nightmare to deal with in the west. The Timberwolves have a gaping hole at SG and Mayo would fit in perfectly with the run and gun system Adelman is bringing along with Rubio and gives them a very good shot at the playoffs this year (Take that New Orleans)

It just really surprises me how limited the options really would be

AV STAYS IN CLEVELAND BABY!!!

just thinking out loud for the hell of it but first off I do not want to trade AV at all I love what he brings to this team and really, really, enjoy watching him play and give it his all night in and night out. However lets say New Jersey looses out of the Howard race for whatever reason. I would wonder if they would be a potential destination for Andy. Maybe something like their first round pick and Marshon Brooks for Andy? Im a big Andy fan but I would have to jump all over that kind of an offer because it wouldn't get any better then that. However I'm a realist and the possibility of this deal going down is probably 5% but it is still fun to think and talk about.

I'd love it to, more like .001%

I meant to say less then 5% but I like your percentage better.

He's going to get hurt soon and we're going to be fucked. Hopefully some teams give some serious offers soon.
