The kids spoke in that dialect effortlessly too

I honestly didn’t even think about that...which is a testament to how well they did it.

The scenes with the witch, particularly the very first one are fucking nightmarish.

I the Tribe game ends early tonight, I'm gonna try and catch Blade Runner. Getting great reviews.

One of the best movies I've seen in a very very long time.. Saw it yesterday.. was phenomenal..

The ONLY gripe I had was that the music direction was off at some times.. but that might also be because of the ArcLight theater's sound system.. but at times, the music was overbearingly loud, like, blaring into your ears loud, at odd moments.

But I can't really talk about the film other than to say, it's a masterpiece... Really... If you liked Blade Runner, you'd like this movie.

Oh, and ppl who said it was better than the original ... ehh ... you get that vibe at first, it opens strong - but it's not better than the original.

Still.. 10/10... masterful work.

I might watch the original again. I haven't seen that in ages.

Speaking of...I've never seen Ford laugh like this before. He always seemed like a dry, humorless bastard.

Don't watch the movie without seeing the original

They are LYING in the promotional stuff that says you don't need the original.

You really must watch the Director's Cut or the Final Cut of the original to completely understand what's going on.

Watched the Final cut last Tuesday. So Deckard is a replicant?

:chuckle:

I mean............

Look, I will say this.. In the movie Blade Runner: Director's Cut and Blade Runner: Final Cut, Deckard is a replicant. He is.. there's no other valid interpretation of the film. In Blade Runner, the theatrical release, VHS, and limited release laser-disc, I would argue Deckard is human -- but if you look at this latest film .... MAN ... that interpretation doesn't hold up at all... :chuckle:

But, since I consider the Final Cut to be cannon for the movie, then Deckard is a replicant.

Now, does the movie address this question? Yes... did I like how they addressed it... at first, then... not so much.. it's done in a disjointed way... and you can tell.. well, you'll see... Think.. The Force Awakens.. but not as bad..

Nonetheless, I liked how it was done, mostly.

I get what you're saying...

Look, Blade Runner 2049 is really a masterful work. I give it a 10 because I feel it rounds to 10.. There were some flaws.. more flaws in 2049 than in the original. Moreover, the reliance on the original and some of the heavy usage of the originals scenes/material can at times wear on you -- like, we get it.

But, it's great movie.

If I were to scale these to a true 1-10 rating I'd give this movie say a 9.8 and Blade Runner: The Final Cut a 9.99 ... I'd give Blade Runner (theatrical) a 9.0, just, for reference.

But, I'm really nitpicking if I'm saying 2049 isn't a 10, like, I'm finding reasons NOT to give it a 10. If you evaluate it on it's own, it's a 10... Its only when you consider it alongside the original and you think, which movie was done better, which movie has more impact, I would argue Blade Runner has more impact. But which movie tries to convey more meaning? Blade Runner 2049.

And with all of this being said... this needs movie should (and likely will) get a sequel.

Planning to see that, but really need to re-watch the original. Been about a decade.
Google has it for $2. That's what I watched.

Didn't make it tonight. Plan on a matinee tomorrow.

So I bought tickets online yesterday for a 10pm showing, thinking the Indians game would be well over by then.

Lol.

Luckily for me, I walked in just as it was starting. And I saw the whole game.

Blade Runner 2049 gets a 9.5...

I honestly liked it more than the original, and I liked the original.

BTW, I refuse to believe that Deckard is a replicant. Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer both agreed to film under the premise that he wasn't a replicant, as it would take away from the growth and humanizing of the character. Ridley Scott did later state that Deckard was a replicant. Eff that.

Deckard is a replicant....

He was always a replicant. The theatrical release you may remember just hides the original intent of the film; but the original intent was always for Deckard to be a replicant, and the scenes that demonstrate he actually is a replicant aren't easily dismissed.

In fact, there is no reasonable way to interpret the Directors Cut, whatsoever, other than Deckard being a replicant. The Final Cut adds a touch of the ambiguity back in, but only for effect; it's still the same outcome.

The unicorn dream in itself makes any other interpretation impossible. But Gaff knew Deckard was a replicant, he was his minder essentially.

Also, curious as to why you thought 2049 was better than the original?
