Rebuilding Trade Ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ugh, this is so frustrating because we were SO close and now we are SO far away from being legitimate contenders again.

Should be able to get a pick out of that Houston deal.

I'd rather have Harden/Aldrich than Mayo/Thabeet.

How about these....

Each team gets something out of it...

Cavs get young talent and cap space
- Jeff Green (rental player and Cavs get to to see what he is worth)
- Paul George
- Mullins (I know... he sucks but he is a true center)
- C. Aldrich (A true center prospect)
- Crawford and Dunlevey are 21 million that would not be on the book next year.
- Probably a draft pick or 2 (Atl and Pacers)

Pacers
- A legit scoring option in the front court who would play well with Hibert
- A chance to make the playoffs

Atlanta Hawks
- A serious upgrade at the PG position (Bibby is done) and a guy who would play very well next to Joe
- Defensive Help on the wing (Moon)

Thunder
- Correct me if I am wrong but haven't the Thunder been eyeballing Andy for some time now... And they are only really giving up Aldrich, a guy who they probably will let go at the end of the year (Green), and a warm body (Mullins)

These trades absolutely crack my ass up. Do you guys really think we're going to rebuild our team with one trade? LOL

No it is actually a couple of trades... I just put it all on one sheet to make it easier to see the total effect... Did you notice that all of the other teams were ONLY trading with the CAVs?

Also, I don't think this rebuilds the team. I think that this new team is pretty bad, but it does have assets and flexibility.

lol no.

and no again.

Yes please. Not sure if Utah would do that though.

You do realize that Mo is averaging 19.2, 11.4 and 4.8 over his last 5 games, which coincided with him getting used to playing with Jamison and having Gibson at SG and Parker at the SF slot.

Mo is young enough that I just keep him at this point...he is proving he can be a real PG that gets his teammates involved OR he can be a great spot up shooter playing off a ball dominant player...really, for whoever we draft Mo can fit his game around that player.

If AV is going to OKC, I'd really prefer to get Harden (with Aldrich, if they are willing) instead of Green. The Cavs could send Parker to OKC as well as very short term replacement for Harden. And OKC wouldn't have to send Mullens WITH Aldrich. Mullens may be bad but there's no reason to totally gut their center depth/youth.

And Jamison isn't worth that much.

That's a pretty sweet sample size and totally justifies putting him in the 2nd tier of PGs...

Don't mean to grave dig threads but I had an idea that makes sense for us in the offseason.

Cavs trade:
Anderson Varejao
Daniel Gibson

Spurs trade:
James Anderson
Tiago Splitter
Antonio McDyess
Spurs 1st

Splitter and Anderson are warming the bench in San Antonio, but are young and have potential. Anderson can fill our void at shooting guard, and Splitter can play center and minutes at power forward. And with McDyess, he's just to match salaries; he could be kept, boughtout, or we can send him for a bad contract and picks.

Spurs obviously do this to get needed size at center, and Gibson is for a contender; he can shoot and defend, plus he's from Texas.

Just posted it to see opinions, hopefully we can get something like this for Andy and Boobie.

I've actually thought for a while that Andy would be a perfect fit in SA and should be exactly what they're looking for next to Duncan in the latter stages of his career. I don't know how I feel about throwing in Boobie, especially because they already have George Hill and Tony Parker. And I don't know if we could get Splitter, Anderson and a 1st... that's basically three firsts for Andy and Boobie (which I think is great, RC Buford might not).

Definitely need to get George Hill out of that deal. That being said, the Spurs are the one team that I would love to see Andy on.

I have several trade ideas, but before I went into them, I thought about targeting teams that may want financial relief due to bad contracts in exchange for future picks.

Would you take on Corey Maggette for a Bucks future first? (2 years left @ $21.18M)
Would you take on Andris Biedrins for a Warriors future first? (3 years left @ $27M)
Would you take on Richard Hamilton for a Pistons future first? (2 years left @ $25.3M)
Would you trade Anderson Varejao to Boston to get that pick they own via LAC?

The Bucks, Warriors, Pistons, and Clippers will probably be in the lottery for the next few years. For various reasons the teams above could/might be willing to dump these players. We know about the friction in Detroit. The Bucks' owner is pretty cheap and the moves they made last offseas were horrible. The Warriors' owners are question marks. Now, the levels of protection on these picks would have to vary of course depending on the trades themselves. But these are teams that I would be looking at. Especially if Dan Gilbert really does not care about salary and wants to have multiple lottery picks over several years. Taking on either Hamilton or Maggette would give the Cavs another large expiring with Baron Davis the season after next. That too is another asset to consider.

I figured rather than throw up a bunch of trade ideas which most people have problems with anyways, I'd at least come up with some thoughts first.

Yes
Yes, if it isn't protected because of the length of the contract

My original post was without the first which I thought was fair. Maybe substitute the first for a 2nd and cash to buy out McDyess.

Or if we don't buy out McDydess, we could send him to Charlotte for Matt Carroll/Diop (bad contracts) and one of the Blazers 1st.

Just an idea.

Oh I understand. My original idea when I was trying to get something that would work revolved around sending Andy and Sauce (Great fit for them, defender and hits the corner 3) for Splitter, Anderson and filler. Obviously that was a pre-deadline idea, but yeah, I see where you're coming from. If Andy can't be part of the Cavs future, I'd love to see him on the spurs.

Draft Irvin with the first pick.Draft Barnes with the 2nd pick. Pretty sure we get a first from Kings/Warriors

PG-B.Davis/K.Irvin/D.Gibson
SG-C.Eyenga/M.Harris
SF-J.Henson/H.Barnes/K.Singler
PF-J.Hickson/S.Samuels
C-C.Kaman/A.Verajao/S.Erden

Henson is only starting cause he is a straight up athlete with size, giving Barnes a smoother easier transition if needed.

Most of our scoring will come from the point and the pivot!
You guys may not like this but if the Big Cheat in south Beach fail,im using the TPE on #6
you never know! Forgiveness is a powerful thing!

All we needed was a point and a pivot!
