Re: Mavs @ Lakers | Apr. 2, 2013 | 10:30 PM EST

I might have to snatch up the rights to Lakers gamethreads... sources close to me state that nothing is certain, but contract negotiations are taking place.

Re: Mavs @ Lakers | Apr. 2, 2013 | 10:30 PM EST

D'Antoni played Kobe for 47 minutes and used a 7-player rotation until the last minute in a twenty-point win. Fortunate to have two days off until their next must-win game vs. Memphis.

In the meantime, go Denver.

Well done Wuck. You brought home a victory with your thread. You'd better do one for all of the remaining Lakers games. :chuckles:

I think I will retain the luck of this thread by just changing its title accordingly when we get to the Memphis game. :chuckles:

Will also throw some hexes toward the Jazz.

Lakers got vs. Mem, at LAC, vs. NO, vs. POR, vs. GSW, vs. SAS, vs. HOU

Utah has vs. DEN, vs. NO, at GS, vs. OKC, vs. Min, at Min, at MEM

Gonna be tough.

That's actually a drop in his minutes from the last game they played Sat against Sacramento when he played all 48 minutes.

They are (and have been) in full blown all hands on deck Game 7 mode for a while now.

We are lucky we only need them to get in the playoffs, because if they do make it after 8-9 games in a row of 7 men rotations and Kobe playing 48 minutes a night it is going to be 4 and out.

Thing that makes me nervous is that they are having to expend a ton of energy to beat these really pedestrian teams.

They are going to have to beat some playoff teams down the stretch unless Utah collapses, and it just is hard to see them having the gas to get to the finish line on a 7 man rotation.

And people think Byrons rotations are bad

He sat out the final 23 seconds of that game. So he only played a half minute less tonight. :chuckles:

D'Antoni has been short-sighted with his rotations all year. If Nash comes back soon, that will make it an 8-man rotation, but tonight there were opportunities to use more players. D'Antoni is also deferring to Kobe at this point in terms of minutes, and Kobe doesn't want to come out of the game. They have a tough road, but that's been true for months.

Lakers got at LAC

Does that really count as a road game since they still play at Staples Center?

5-2 now to make the playoffs. (that's just my guess on the for sure in)

I think more than looking at who each team is playing, we need to look at how much motivation that team is going to have at that point in the season. Do they already pretty much have their playoff spot locked up and are likely to be resting guys? If they are out of the playoffs, how strong is their tank? You can kinda throw the records out at this point in the season.

It's a drop, but only 33 seconds. Kobe didn't play the full 48 against Sac. He sat out for a play.

They said the last time he played all 48 was 2007.

You should start a Denver-Utah thread and hate on Utah the whole game.
