Rodney Hood: Won't be missed

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It is funny because Jalen Rose always makes stupid comparisons but I actually think Rodney Hood plays very similarly to Jalen Rose.

I'd look to lock Hood up for a Shumpert-esque contract. 4/40ish.
I agree. I think Hood is a budding player and a perfect pairing at the two with a guy like James.

Now let’s go ahead and agree that’s the last time we ever use the term “Shumpert-esque” with this team ever again.

Withey was one of the best rim protectors in the league when he was in Utah and Diaw historically was a solid defender, not great, but definitely better than Love.

Even if he isn't, Withey is the last line of defense and he is by far better than anyone we have at the 5.

We just have to wait and see how Hood defends as a cavalier.

I don't know why I'm getting disagrees, I can prove the above claim with every stat imaginable.

  1. Boris Diaw is fat, slow, and hasn't defended a single shot this season.
  2. In 2016-2017, the Jazz were a better defensive team when Diaw was off the floor, by 1.9 points per 100 possessions.
  3. In 2016-2017, the Cavs were a better defensive team when Love was on the floor, by 4.0 points per 100 possessions.

So much for proving this with "every stat imaginable."

I don't know where this idea is coming from that Hood has great length.

He's 6'8.5" with a 6'8.5" wingspan.

Everyone has length when compared to IT. Perceptions vary based on situation :chuckle:

1. Sees stats with no opinion whatsoever that objectively disproves his statement
2. Disagrees

:chuckle:

Never change, @Sir'Dom Pointer

I disagreed because it doesn't disprove anything. You provided two very very noisy stats. They don't mean much at all.

I'll be happy to disprove whatever you think you proved after the game.

Jeff Withey by himself as the last line of the defense is better than any combination that included Love as far as defensive efficiency goes, whether you think Diaw worse than Love or not individually.(Which he isn't juding by individual tracking)

Also, you seem to have a tendency to just nail disagrees on every post I make since that altercation we had few weeks ago that you instigated , and you are flustered by one disagree that I throw at you because I geniuinly disagree with it and it's backed up by stats?

"Never Change"? I don't get that... I don't just bash the disagree button or don't provide explanation in my posts, so what does that mean?

You said Boris Diaw is a better defender than Kevin Love.

You said this is provable by every stat imaginable.

I provided one, very general, stat, that does not show that Boris Diaw is a better defender than Kevin Love.

If you want to talk about Love's actual defense, his positioning, his ability to move his feet, know where he's supposed to be--then let's talk. If you want to talk about how he's not a defensive anchor and shouldn't be playing center against most NBA teams, let's talk. If you want to talk about an old, fat guy who can't even play in the NBA--that's a bit of a stretch, but okay, let's talk.

If you want to make a claim that's factually incorrect, then get upset when someone points that out, I'm not sure what we have to talk about.

For the rest of your post, I have no idea what you're talking about--what "altercation" did we have, and what did we disagree with? I'll hit "disagree" when you post something factually incorrect. If you'd like to discuss any of this, let's take it to PM.

Edit: Just noticed where we are. Why are we talking about Love's defense, or the acquisitions of Jeff Withey and Boris Diaw in a Rodney Hood thread?

It's all just semantics, but a 6'8.5" guy at shooting guard is indeed lengthier than a shorter guy with the same wingspan though his height to wingspan ratio is worse. Think of closing out on a 3pt shooter.

It's true. Having size at SG is nice.

He's not a long 6'8" though. Some people were going overboard saying he could play PF in small ball lineups.

Agreed, although, wasn't Korver technically playing the 4 the other night?

People have a weird obsession with a couple of inches. He has a standing reach of 8’7”. As a comparison, K Love has a standing reach of 8’10”.

The definition of small ball is that the players are smaller than usual for the position.
