Round 4 - Pick 111 - Dawand Jones, OT, Ohio State

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Anyone in here thinking tennis is safe from concussions clearly isn't familiar with the story of Cosmo Kramer. Dude was in a coma for a few hours after the injuries he sustained

So bringing it back to Dawand Jones - I think the "basketball is my first love" criticism is a minor footnote. There are plenty of athletes who had to switch sports or switch positions from their top choice and had great careers. The NFL draft was filled with former basketball stars who were drafted as receivers or defensive backs. I think he fell because of several odd situations all piling up. He put on about 30 pounds since the bowl game... that's the real red flag.

It would be a much bigger concern if he had played basketball in college at a high level and there was a serious threat he might quit to pursue "his dream". He apparently was a very good - not great - high school player, but didn't play any ball at the college level.

Zero threat for him to leave for basketball.

Ballboy isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Kyler Murray was, and is, a threat to leave for baseball (or COD tourneys) but still became the #1 pick and was given a huge extension. And I'm pretty sure he was even drafted by the Oakland As. As a 4th round pick, I have zero concern about him leaving.

If he was a Browns QB 90% of Browns fans would be begging for him to play for the Twins.

Rowing is always a great option.

So Dawand grew up with the dream of NBA aspirations and then grew up to be 6’8, 350 with feet like a goddamn dancer?

Dgaf…

Excited to see him ball here.

LFG

Could Dawand Jones be having a better season?

Got his name called today on some solid run-plays.

He had committed only 3 penalties coming into today (1 hold, 2 false starts).

Walker get pressured a few times when Jones' help on the inside failed.

He made 1 mistake that I saw today. Went wide when he had help outside and Bosa went untouched for his only play of the day.

1 mistake from a 5th round rookie tackle against (arguably) the best DE in the League is pretty elite, though.

According to the broadcast that was how the play was designed and Teller should have slide over and picked up Bosa

I, obviously, don't know how the play was designed, but to have Jones and the RB doubling a safety and relying on Teller to shift out to Bosa doesn't make sense to me. If the back wasn't there it would.

Oh well, I still absolutely love the kid and want him on the team forever...possibly on the left side, though.

I’ll wait for A22, I’m guessing there was all pressure to right, which means you’d expect everyone to shift assignments right. The back is there probably as a chip/release, and Bosa comes in after the back commits.

Whole purpose of that overloaded blitz package is to cause what happened to happen.

I'm just repeating what they said as it might have not been as big of a him blowing an assignment.

It wasn't a good play by the line, either way.
