What's the difference?

I've seen some people here type with all the "dat wuz kool" and "Did U see dis?" typing. Equally annoying in my book, maybe more.

I would love to have Sarunus here!
relax- and take it for what it was worth..

i would prefer to see "dat wuz kool" then some backwards "K" and all that ugutjtujguhuju ---at least i would understand what the hell they were trying to get accross...

but i was just messing around..

I'll pretend LEBRON'S_PIPPEN didn't make that remark because we do have some Lithuanian members on this board.

Great news on contacting Sarus. Like someone stated in page 2, it is going to be hard for teams to double Z or LeBron with lethal offensive weapons with Hughes and Sarus.

I can't wait.

Re: Sarus dead set on Cavs?

man o man when is the season going to start.
FERRY FERRY FERRY FERRY!!!!

Re: Sarus dead set on Cavs?

ok... ok... I'm asking you guys to take a step back and look at the big picture. Let's say we get everyone and by everyone I'm talking about

Z, Haslem, Hughes, Sarus maybe 3 to 4 new starters (depending on eric snow)

With a line-up with Z, Haslem, Lebron, Hughes, Sarus this might be the most offensively talented team in the eastern conference ...plus our bench might actually score more than 10pts a game this year.

Z - 17
Haslem - 12
Lebron - 25
Hughes- 18
Sarus - 15

Granted this is just an assumption, but 87 pts from the starters would be great; although this might be a little on the high side

Not to mention this would greatly improve our team defense as well as our individual defenders. Which gives me enough confidence to say that we can beat out a Miami or a Detroit or Indiana ... I'm not saying we will have the best record in the Eastern Conference, but I think were going to have a better record than one of those elite teams... if everything goes according to plan

Re: Sarus dead set on Cavs?

so would haslem be more of a defensive "BOOZER" style of player for us ?

rebounding
good positioning (since he is a bit undersized)

and then there is his other non boozables
defense (good rotations)
shot blocking
enforcer

we need that interior defender-- since we have you know who at the center spot. :)

Re: Sarus dead set on Cavs?

This is awesome news! I keep wondering why everyone automatically assumes Z will take a pay cut to stay here, but having his buddy here pretty much says Z will work with us. Why else would Saras sign here?!

JASKEVICIUS TURNED DOWN THE CELTICS! I mean the Celtics are the most storied NBA franchise in history, so Saras must be eyeballing "The Plan" just as we Cavs fans are!!! Whoo hoo!

If I were Z I would force their 2 agents to sit down and hammer it out so they can be here together and still have enough dollars for another quality free agent. I often wonder if players even consider doing that instead of being Yes Men to their agent. This gives me hope!

Re: Sarus dead set on Cavs?

around 6 or 6.5 on haslem...

Re: Sarus dead set on Cavs?

THe Celtics offered a crappy deal though, just hte 1.6 million dollar exception, and he will definately get bigger offers than that.

Haslem won't come any cheaper than 6 million though I don't think, as the Heat can match anything up to 5.5 million because of early Bird rights they have on Haslem (not sure how this works, just read it in an article). Im not sure how/why Z would take a huge pay cut to bring him down to 8 million starting or why we'd want him on the books for 6 years, but it really wont matter because in a few years when LeBron gets his pay day we're going over the cap anyhow, I just hope Gilbert likes paying the luxury tax.

But if this all works out then that would be a pretty sweet team right there with Saraunas, Hughes, LeBron, Haslem and Z as a starting 5 then a bench featuring Snow, Newble, Sasha, Luke, and AV, which was half the starters from last season. I dont know how Gooden would adjust to life on the bench, he didnt take it too well in Orlando and might have to be traded, preferably for a center to give Z some rest.

Re: Sarus dead set on Cavs?

How do we plan on getting haslem?

Re: Sarus dead set on Cavs?

We also aren't 100% sure how much Hughes will be getting in year 1 of his contract. There are reports that it's $12 million but no one really knows until the contract is signed July 23.
If the 1st year salary in Hughes' contract is under $12 million that would also free up a little more money to use.

It would be a perfect situation if Z gets $8 million and Sarunas $3 million in year 1 of their contracts. That would still allow the Cavs money to make 1 more quality FA signing and also make Haslem a legitimate option.

Re: Sarus dead set on Cavs?

Z aint getting 8 per...Im not sure how we can work it, but we may be able to start him at that, but then we would be paying somewhere around 12-14 in his last two years.

Correct, but :whogives:

I doubt it will affect our flexibility that much, we'll be over the cap anyways with Z hughes lebron under his max, and anderson getting paid as well, not to mention who ever else. the only prob. would be if gilbert is unwilling to spend, which there has been no indication of yet.

Re: Sarus dead set on Cavs?

Exactly E-Light. Five years down the track we are well over the cap so Ilgauskas'c contract will not really matter.

As for Haslem, Miami have to try and sign both him and Damon Jones on limited resources. If we chase Haslem heavy, Miami are in an awkward position.

Re: Sarus dead set on Cavs?

Yeah I heard if we offer more then 5.5 they will have to use their whole MLE on Haslem preventing them from getting D Jones Antonio Daniels or Shareef Abdur Rahim or even Cliff Robinson who they have been talking to. If we offer over 5.5 i'm saying we got him.
