SJax and Z trade rumor

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If Miami has a chance to get someone they will do it and so will Chicago.

Miami I can see, but not Chicago. Who are they going to get that's good enough to make them a contender while still keeping Rose? Chicago's best course of action is to sign an All-Star to put next to Rose in free agency.

About all Chicago could put together in a trade is Miller's expiring, Thomas, and Noah. That's not going to net them a legitimate All-Star, and they'd be left with a terrible front court and no cap room most likely, unless it was for Boozer or Bosh.

The cavs have expiring contracts on Z ,West and effectively Wally. These become far more valuable as we get to the trade deadline. Do not panic there will be more and better trades out there for the Cavs.(can add Shaq as an expiring if you like also) We are only ten games in.
I realize the Cavs have expiring contracts, but they aren't the only team with them. What will stop team x from outbidding us?

Flamez made a really good point when he brought up Ferry's interest in screwing other teams in the past. Yes, a lot of the players we've received have been for pennies on the dollar. That doesn't mean we can expect EVERY deal to be like that and pass on any deal that has us giving up something worthwhile. It seems like many people around here expect all trades to be like that.

Miami is hoping to land another max free agent along with Wade, and the Bulls are going to be looking to dump someone so that they can land Wade themselves. I can't see the Bulls looking to land anyone of significance. The Heat I suppose could try to land someone in order to keep Wade around.

I just hope Ferry doesn't wait around until the final few hours like it seems like he did this year, even with deals on the table that would have significantly improved our team in early February/late January.

If the first ten games are any indication of where teams are heading, right now you have these teams that have bad records and high payrolls (top 15 payrolls):

Jazz (2nd highest payroll?!)
Wizards
Hornets
Bobcats (may have changed after Jackson trade though)

In addition, the Clips and Grizz always seem to be looking to dump salary.
Miami has a BUNCH of cap space. They won't be able to trade for some 15MM player, but I'm fairly certain they could trade for a contract that's roughly ~7-8MM and still have enough for a max player & Wade. And that's without considering the possibility of them throwing the 2010 dreams out the window if a good enough deal presented itself.

Out of the teams you listed, who do you think would be available in early 2010?
Utah would have Boozer and AK47. Do we really want to go down the Boozer road again (esp when he's unsigned)?

Washington has Butler and maybe Jamison. Wiz fans seem to really miss Jamison and Butler is off to a mediocre start so Butler would probably be available first. If the Cavs won't offer more than Z and West, they will be outbid for Butler.

New Orleans has West and Okafor. Again, if we only offer Z and (Delonte) West for (David) West, other teams would make better offers. Even if we add Hickson other teams would probably still have better offers. Okafor would be a possibility, but his contract is a bit of a red flag (a lot of people here don't seem to like him, but meh).

At this point, I don't consider Jackson to be any better than Larry Hughes. Kudos to Danny for not giving in and moving Z in this deal. We'll get someone better for him later.

Hopefully I'm wrong and we pick up two all stars at the deadline, considering we could have picked up one now for scraps and one later for z. We'll see.

Number of All-Star games Stephen Jackson has been selected to?: 0

I'm not going to buy that stuff. I know Miami wants to add a max free agent with Wade but if the opportunity presents itself to get talent in a trade, Pat Riley will be all over it.

If Miami has a chance to get someone they will do it and so will Chicago.

Riley already passed on Amare (last year) and Boozer(this summer) when he could have had them whenever he wanted. He's all in for 2010. You're wrong.

All-star games are a popularity contest not a judge of talent. All-star in ability, not fan appreciation. Its as worthless as the MLB all-star game for evaluating talent.

Stephen Jackson isn't an all-star, dude. Get over it. Quit spouting your bullshit around here.

yea pretty sure the Amare part is wrong...

Riley could have had Amare for Beasley+fillers if he wanted last year. He didn't.

He knows he can keep Beasley, and add Amare or Bosh while re-signing Wade in 2010. My point being, he's waiting for 2010.

I refuse to let this thread die! Sorry MYoung. Anyway, just wanted to pass this info along to round out the rumors...

The Warriors are understandably thrilled to have found a trade-taker so quickly for Stephen Jackson, having privately feared that one more blowup from their disgruntled former captain would have made moving him near-impossible.

Golden State is likewise scoffing at the suggestion -- and rightfully so -- that they should have taken Cleveland's trade offer instead of Charlotte's. The Cavs not only tried to extract a first-round pick from the Warriors as a sweetener for taking on Jackson's three-year contract extension worth nearly $28 million, according to sources close to the situation, but it's believed they also would have asked the Warriors to release Delonte West after completing the trade.
Had Golden State done that deal, even assuming it would have rejected any suggestion of including draft compensation, its only return for Jackson would have been payroll relief in the form of a signed-and-traded Wally Szczerbiak (to a three-year deal with only one season guaranteed) and the long-term savings from waiving West immediately. League rules would have then enabled Cleveland to re-sign West after a 30-day wait, as seen last season when Antonio McDyess went back to Detroit after the Pistons dealt him to Denver in the Allen Iverson deal.

Apparently, Danny was playing hardball and wouldn't back down. IMO, this was the approach to take. Jax would be a nice addition, but given GSW's situation and Jax's contract Ferry could strong arm them a bit. If he lost, which he did, the Cavs would still be fine and other opportunities will present themselves as the trade deadline approaches.

We'll see if this is a standing demand from Danny, if Delonte is included in any package, he must be waived immediately. Might have the same demand for Z as well.

well that sure won't limit the potential teams we could deal with:rolleyes:

I love hardball, but notice that we didn't end up with the player we wanted.
