So long, Spencer Hawes (signs with Clippers for MLE)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The odds of a sign and trade involving Hawes are extremely low.

The Clippers are well over the cap so they would need to send back comparable salary and the Cavs simply aren't going to do that until LeBron makes a decision.

Even if LeBron decided tomorrow that he's going to come back, the Cavs would need to renounce Hawes' cap hold to clear enough cap space to sign him anyway.

U mean Cavs won't do it.
Taking back more salary is ridiculous at this point.

Long, long way off some of those 10 million dollar numbers people were throwing up.

Hawes could have gotten more, he went to the team he wanted to play for at an extreme discount.

For his first big contract I'm surprised he'd take so little. 20 million won't be worth much in 20 years.

According to reports, Hawes turned down the MLE from Portland as well as a potentially bigger deal from Phoenix (maybe they're in a holding pattern) before accepting the MLE deal from the Clippers. Cavs were probably in the same holding pattern.

So Hawes did get to pick his team while offering a discount.

I think it was a great pick-up for the Clippers.

Miles and Hawes are two GREAT role players for Championship teams, and they will both be very successful in Indiana and Los Angeles next year, respectively. Wish them both the best.

Awesome...

Oh this is awkward... RT @spencerhawes00: Hey @blakegriffin32 you know 32 is my number you wanna arm wrestle for it or something?

So, who feels like the assets we gave up for this guy was worth it?

Extreme? What is this based on? He was offered basically the same amount from Portland. This is slightly below what I think his value is. But he's no where even near 10 million dollars a year.

Who cares at this point we still have a lot left, Wiggins, and a shot LeBron.

In the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal because of what you said.

But it was still a shortsighted move for a guy who wasn't very good and wasn't going to stay here. It's two picks that could have been better spent.

Because of the Hawes trade, we didn't have to watch Clark play for the rest of the year. Don't underestimate that value.

I would like the three picks back from the Deng trade, even though not having to pay attention to the Kings anymore is also a plus.

To me that was a move made by a guy who was thrown into that role all the sudden and it almost paned out and got us close to the play offs. The move we gave up to much was the Deng trade. I just realized we have or tried and or are still trying to trade Jack that means every signing last year did not work out. Wow I am happy where we now is all I got to say, Oh and best wishes Hawes, I kinda liked you.

He helped our record. If he wasn't a rental getting us the 9th worst record, we wouldn't have won the lottery... I'd say the picks for he and Deng worked out perfectly...
