From Charles' comments sounds like the nba is going to take the stance black players are sterling slaves and suspend him.

But, to be determined whether they want him out of the nba since he's kept the clippers profitable for 20 years. They want his money.

There are clauses in contracts that not playing due to anything other then team or doctor excuses is an automatic cessation of said contract. They would lose their contracts and money. He can also sue them for breech of contract, and he would win, and they couldn't possibly afford to oppose him in court. His comments are offensive, but have no baring on you being an adult with a contract who needs to do your job. And if they see the players throwing it then, I would have them arrested for collusion and void the contracts anyway if I was the NBA. Owners can't cut players for doing or saying stupid shit so neither should players to owners. Request a trade or don't sign an extension, people will understand then when no FA go there, and no one resigns. Other then that be a man and do your job.

Sponsors, fans, TV contracts. These are what bring in money to the NBA. Sterlings comments put that revenue stream in jeopardy for the entire league. He is a representative of the NBA and has damaged the name of the NBA and possibly it's earning potential.

The court of public opinion will dictate the direction the league goes. You start seeing sponsorship and advertisers pulling due to public outcry... Sterling is gone. It doesn't matter that he is an owner.

If I am a sponsor, I would come out in support of players that protest. Even help offset the cost of lost paychecks for players if they decide to boycott. This is a big issue and could be very profitable for sponsors if the support the player and not the league.

It's only different if you don't care about the group being offended against. It isn't different. The league is filled with misogynists, homophobics, bigots, racists of all colors, nationalists, so on and so forth. Earn your money and play the game and grow up. Agreed that those are important aspects to the NBA revenue. They also have every right to stop advertising with that organization, and probably should. People also have every right not to go, and they shouldn't go either. Do that for a while and see how quickly he sells. But let the market dictate the actions against Sterling, he will care about that more then whining or players doing some kind of protest that will lose them their job. I as an owner also wouldn't take any of those players on my team either, because if they will just quit whenever they want, they lose me money.

As a preface to this rant I am a white adult from Northern Ohio...

These kind of things are absolutely mind boggling to me. Who the hell cares if your black, purple, red, yellow, pink, white or any other color. None of that has absolutely zero impact on how you should be viewed. It's people like this that keep racism alive. It's just crazy to me that people really still act this way. I mean it's completely absurd.

I understand the man is older and grew up during the civil rights era. But even looking back on it he should see how absurd it is to see other races as inferior or different because of skin color. The civil rights era was based on a primitive mindset to begin with (I'm talking about the discrimination aspect of whites towards African Americans). I mean, it's skin color, that doesn't mean they are different or inferior. I mean hell, we live in a country now where there's a melting pot of so many different races. Shit are country was founded on different ethnicities. I just have a really difficult time understanding the kind of thought process he has, and others with that same thought process.

I don't see any way the Clippers protest and don't play. After the thousands of hours they've all put in together trying to win a Championship, I don't see them pissing it away because their owner is a piece of shit. Just play your hardest for yourself, your teammates, your coaches, and your fans. Deal with the Owner after the Playoffs.

If he's still the owner on opening night next season, that's when I'm protesting. But during the playoffs? Hell no

The NBA is going to take swift and severe action against Sterling. No doubt in my mind he's forced to sell the team. Boycotting the game will penalize the Clippers and Warriors fans way more than anyone else in my opinion. I think they owe it to their fans to play. Sterling already has all their money from the season and they aren't getting it back. I think not playing does more damage than good.
If I'm the players, I say we are going out and playing for our fans...but, next year is a different story and we will not play without an ownership change.

Does Sterling have an ownership group? The man can step down himself as the figurehead, but I'm sure someone he's affiliated with can take over that role.
