Bout time they send that toe-tapping bastard on his way.

Worthless.

Giving him a free pass for sucking horribly in those 46 games is pretty weak, but nice to see he's at least making up for it now.

Went to the mission swisher event tonight, met a ton of the players. Really great experience good cause.

What exactly was that? I don't think they did a great job of explaining what it was all about.

McCalister was designated for assignment, in case anyone cares. He'll likely clear waivers and go back to AAA.

Indians adding a scout formally with Baseball America.

Who will be available come waiver time? I can see the Tribe putting claims in on a SP.

I can too. I think it is good to note that on August 11th, 2013 they were 4GB of the Wild Card and 7 games over .500. They're only 2 games over .500 and only 2.5 games back.

These next 6 games vs. CIN and NYY are massive. Could really make or break them.

The Marlins DFA'd Jacob Turner.

I'm a bit unclear whether he's designated for optional assignment, but if the Indians can actually put in a claim on him I'd love to add him to Triple-A as a reclamation project.

Josh Beckett cleared waivers as well.

Eh, Jacob Turner came in with the expectations of being a high strikeout starter, and has never done that in the big leagues, and for the most part didn't even do it in the minors. I don't think there's much to recreate in his game. Scouting reports had him throwing mid-upper 90s in High School, and he has never done that in the MLB.

Wouldn't hurt to give him a try though.
