The Capricious Non partisan Government Arbitrary Action thread.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Seeing people saying this is an impeachable offense. Is that true? Or is it only true if enough damning evidence is found to get Trump?

Depends. If Comey found evidence that Trump colluded with Russia, or at least knew people on his team did and did nothing, and then Trump fired him to cover it up, I'd say that's certainly impeachable.

Regardless, it's just a really bad look and reeks of a cover up to fire the person currently investigating you.

I mean, they had to know this would look horrible? I just don't see the play here. It's like the Browns front office up there.

The new Deputy AG that Trump appointed after firing Sally Yates, who is on record saying Flynn was a blackmail risk (i.e. a potential threat to Trump's team)? That Deputy AG?

Yea I'm sorry what does Sally Yates have to do with the new Deputy AG? Does that somehow make his letter invalid? Or did typing this out just feel good? I dont get it.

So read the letter, or don't. Its well argued and, quite frankly, lines up quite well with many arguments Democrats were making 8 months ago about why Coney needed to step down.

If ties to Russia are confirmed, will you denounce Trump?

Here's the thing captain, I didn't vote for Donald Trump. I'm a-ok with my decision this last fall to toss my vote in the trash because of our shitty candidates.

But let me ask you something.

So when Comey came out last summer and said Hilary was a fucking idiot and incredibly irresponsible, did that stop you from pulling that lever for her at the ballot box?

Didn't vote for her, tough guy.

But the emails weren't why.

So then why do you care about whether or not I "denounce Trump."

What in the world does that have to do with the discussion at hand.

Trump hires guy. Guy gets confirmed two weeks ago. Guy makes compelling case as to why Comey should be fired. Trump fires Comey.

Now, believe thats the reason Trump did it or don't, all I ask is for people to read the letter and stop believing the absolute worst of the opposing side about every single thing.

This what American politics has devolved into. We now see our political opponents as actual evil and/or terribly stupid. There is no empathy. We have lost all ability to step outside of our own echo chambers and at least try to see the world from the other sides point of view.

They are evil. We are good. They are stupidm. We are smart.

Social media has excaberated this problem 10 fold and I've grown so disenfranchised with politics because of it.

To be fair, the Trump administration's constant string of scandals and corruption hasn't really given us any reason to give them the benefit of the doubt here.

Trump falsely accused a sitting President as being foreign, claimed one of his opponent's father was involved in the JFK assassination and on multiple occasions threatened to jail a different opponent.

The problems you speak of are valid. But if they really concern you, then your biggest beef should be with Trump.

What if I've already already addressed these very issues before and moved on? On this very forum? In threads similar to this one? Would that blow your mind?

What if I went into a big rant about Trump going to tabloids to spread bullshit about Cruz, or continuing on with his birtherism bullshit? Am I then qualified enough to say, "Hey, maybe Don had a decent reason beyond being a traitorous villain to fire Comey. His deputy AG laid out a solid case. Lets be slow to judge."

It does seem odd to you that, what a day after Yates advised she warned everyone about Flynn, he gets fired? And that Trump has to push the "he wasn't under investigation" idea? And that Sessions spent a week trying to come up with reasons to fire the head of the department who wasn't investigating Trump?

So, passive-aggressiveness is your answer?

Am I then qualified enough to say, "Hey, maybe Don had a decent reason beyond being a traitorous villain to fire Comey. His deputy AG laid out a solid case. Lets be slow to judge."

Then why are you so defensive and passive aggressive? Why not acknowledge that it's a problem that Trump is exacerbating? Why try and play this "gotcha" game if that's what you're trying to avoid?

Also, the Deputy AG's letter is not a solid case. He presented no new information and cites something that Trump and Sessions (who didn't recuse himself, I guess) praised Comey for. Despite no new information and Trump being in office for months, this is justification for firing....in the middle of an investigation? That's well laid out?

The action alone is an impeachable offense if it turns out Trump did this in an effort to obstruct the FBI's investigation. By firing Comey, that investigation will likely come to a standstill.
