There is a reason you stockpile assets (picks, players with specific contracts). It is to deal them. If you don't deal them, you never improve. The Cavs did not give up too much for possible rentals. They gave up assets they were stockpiling (and not even many of them, at that) in order to make the playoffs.

This loser mentality has to stop.

No. I've given a lot of specific reasons I'm against the deal.

You, however, seem to be hanging your arguments on "we need to win" w/o actually explaining how Hawes helps do that and "2nd rounders aren't that important." That's just blind faith.

Mention of Pacers trade? :dunno:

I have no argument. I wasn't making an argument. I made a statement, which happens to be true. You stockpile assets and then use those assets to acquire talent who you feel will help you make the postseason.

The loser mentality is, hey, the Cavs should tank. That's a loser mentality. We tanked for a couple years. It's time to grow up and play basketball.

Poor trolling. -1 point for Gryffindor

I give Griffin's first trade deadline a B for boring

at least we didn't trade any of the core, so I'm happy for that

As I understand it, other teams were come to us with offers for Jack that would, at the very least, get some salary off our books. When we ignored them they moved on and we were left scrambling at the deadline and ultimately failed to find any trade at all. That's just a massive fuckup on our part.

Jack isn't bad enough to move him for the sake of moving him. Also, I don't care about the assumptions and BS that goes down on trade day. If you got facts let me hear them, if you want to cluck in circles like hens then go right ahead but don't get mad when I toss some seeds at you.

Because our previous GM gave Jack a contract that he is not even close to living up to. Multiple year deal for a player that isn't performing.

Hard to move contract with a guy that isn't playing well.

I would trade Jack for a corned beef and cabbage, at this point. Mmm - corned beef and cabbage!

A lot of rumor and innuendo today and I haven't digested it all yet, but my sense is that the Cavs were being asked to include an asset (e.g. Zeller) to unload Jack. Now maybe that's not true, but Denver got an expiring for Andre Miller, and in a separate trade got for a replacement PG (Aaron Brooks) also on an expiring contract.

Charlotte agreed to take back $3M+ in 2014-15 salary for Gary Neal in moving out Sessions and his expiring contract. Reportedly Charlotte was interested in shooting off the bench, which Neal (and Ridnour, who was also acquired in the same trade) to replace Sessions, but I highly doubt Charlotte would have been interested in a Sessions-Jack swap.

Golden State got a suitable backup PG in Steve Blake, who is also expiring, and had to give up essentially nothing to get him (sorry, I categorize Bazemore and Brooks as basically nothing). Brooks and Bazemore wouldn't have been nearly enough outgoing salary for Jack anyway.

Brooklyn would have done the Terry-Jack trade, but I don't think many Cavs fans were interested in that.

So I just don't think the deal for Jack was out there. I wouldn't have given up assets to get rid of Jack, nor traded him for a useless player like Terry. Maybe there will be a market in the off-season.

That said, I agree with you in that I am not a big fan of the Hawes trade.

anyone find out what The Bullshit Whisperer's blockbuster was supposed to be?

I think I heard it was supposed to be Irving, Waiters, and our 2014 1st unprotected for Michael Jordan.

@SamAmicoFSO: Lots of Q's about "home run" trade and #Cavs. No one major offer. Just lots of teams testing Griffin, seeing if he'd part w Kyrie, others.

I've tried not to hate The Bullshit Whisperer but he was just so a awful today. He's gotta make up a lot of the bullshit he spews. Can't stand reporters who throw anything out there hoping it'll stick.

I don't know why people bother to take seriously the verbal diarrhea that Sam The Bullshit Whisperer regularly tweets. Nothing he says matters.
