Re: Look at Jackasses Who Said, "Trade Kyrie Irving"

Doubtful the Bucks would even trade the #1 pick in this year's draft for Kyrie, let alone throw in Giannis and a 2015 1st.

No one here said it was realistic, just a hyopthetical.

Well hypothetically, I'm trading my fiance to whoever is fucking Natalie Portman for the rights to half of her shit and her vagina.... Does Benjamin Milliped accept that deal?

Depends on if your wife is ugly.

I would agree.

But prior to this season, they polled the GMs to see who they would want to build around. Kyrie came in third behind LeBron and Durant.

All 30 NBA General Managers responded to an NBA.com poll asking their opinions on teams, players and coaches. The Heat were selected as the overwhelming favorite to win another championship this season, and LeBron James was named the best of everything it seems.
Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving came in third behind LeBron and Kevin Durant for player you would start a franchise with today. To be fair, Kyrie only got 3.4% of the votes cast. James was named on 89.7% of the ballots.
Irving was included in the “players also receiving votes” paragraph for player most likely to have a breakout season, which seems strange. What NBA GM didn’t think he was a star already?
Earl Clark and Jarrett Jack both received votes in the “most underrated player acquisition” question.
The Cavaliers tied for second with Brooklyn, Houston, Minnesota, New Orleans and Washington for most improved team. The Pistons were named the most improved by the league GMs.
Anthony Bennett received votes in questions about this season’s rookie of the year and best draft pick in five years.
In perhaps the strangest category, Tristan Thompson and Anderson Varejao both received votes for international player most likely to have a breakout season.

It's kinda funny to see what they all thought before the season. They seemed to have liked what Grant did in the summer.

31 and 9 beating the most dominate scorer in the NBA on the road. Let's shut this thread down.

Let's keep it open.

And just 2 games ago he had 15 points on 6-17 shooting while losing to the "lowly" Wizards. Can we stop using one game to try and prove a point?

I'll be the first to compliment Kyrie on his play. I loved what he brought out there offensively and more importantly with his teammates... We've seen this before and then we lose to some scrubs. The entire team played hard. I don't think I saw one body standing still at almost any moment of this game.

He has to take this momentum and he has to lead. This is one of those games where I feel he can be the player that all of us knows he CAN be (I've felt the same feeling before a year ago when we played OKC). The Cavs have won 7 of the last 10 against OKC but tonight I saw a Kyrie who was not only ready to pull the trigger but able to get his teammates involved. We all have experienced this kind of play from Kyrie before and I truly hope he can be that guy going forward. He just hasn't proven it game in and game out this entire year. You have to have that from your star player.

Kyrie has a lot to prove and I believe he has it in him to prove it but it remains to be seen if he ever does.

Go Cavs.

You act like the Wizards are the worst team in the NBA...

That's all were asking for. Consistency with the level of effort and focus needed to lead this team to victories.

He does that and this thread never happened.

I was being sarcastic. And the fact that, that was the only thing you responded to from my initial post tells me you didn't grasp what I was trying to get across.

Re: Look at Jackasses Who Said, "Trade Kyrie Irving"

There are two issues here, and this discussion has focused on only one of them.

The first issue is "does Kyrie's play justify a max contract extension?" It's been debated here to death, and I'm not going to add to that discussion.

I think the second issue is the more important one -- does he want to be here long-term? We've heard several rumors (most recently the Windy column from earlier this week) that he really does not want to be here long-term.

If I were Gilbert (or Griffin) (or whoever the GM is this summer), I would reach out to Kyrie to have a very frank conversation. If he wants to be here for the long haul, terrific. If not -- and I wouldn't take it personally if this were the case -- then I'd look to trade him. (And I'd probably start by reaching out to the Lakers, seeking a return that would begin with their pick in the upcoming draft, but that's another discussion.) Point is -- if he doesn't want to be here, then it doesn't matter how good of a player he is; he should be traded. It would be best for him, and it would be best for the Cavs.

To me this is a slippery slope, if we let a player dictate that he does not want to be here, then what is keeping future stars from doing the same thing to us. We hold a slight upper hand as we can offer the most money, and the 5 years and think we should call his bluff if he threatens not to sign the ext. I think this is also why it was so important to make a push for the playoffs this year. If we can finsih the year strong, I think it sends a message to KI that this is a good place to be at.
