I wish he would take that shot once or twice a game. It doesnt need to go in for it to affect the way they guard him. Kind of like throwing it deep in football, even if you dont connect, it keeps the secondary honest.

No matter how many times TT takes that shot, they'd never take him seriously. I'm not sure it would have the "throw it long" effect that you describe.

He should take that shot. He has been very good with it in last second shot scenarios.

Antonio Mcdyess had no shot and he would just kill from one spot. Shoot a high percentage from one spot at least.

You want our team to take more 2pt shots outside of the paint, and you want TT taking them?

Depends on the defense. If he is wide open, yep

I'm fine with his little running hook shot, and with him dunking. Otherwise, he might as well just hand the ball to the defense. Our best rebounder, who can't shoot, taking mid-range jumpers is not good from any angle...besides the whole "keep them honest" thing.

That's his #1 criticism that no one has to guard him

For sure, but I'm not sure him missing mid-range shots fixes that. They'll just keep sagging off him until he makes them consistently.

And that's the rub. I don't think he'll make them consistently enough to force the defense to guard him. They'll just keep rebounding his missed shots.

If I was the opposing team, I'd love it if this were our game plan.

There problem is if you don't take the shot, there is also no one open to pass it to. On the perimeter, you can dribble and do a hand off, but that close to the paint, there is not much to be done. You have to wait for someone to rescue you. He should just take the shot. He really isn't that bad at it.

It's worth experimenting with. It wouldn't hurt to see him try it, but I'm still not convinced it would work. The only way to know for sure is to have him try.

I am not 100% it will work either, but would like to see if he can experiment with it to the tune of 1 or 2 a game. Give a month, if it isnt working, then he can stop taking that 10 foot shot.

Great stats tonite for TT... zero across the board... seriously though, I hope he begins to embrace the bench energizer role again, now that he is not going to play a lot of minutes... just focus on rebounding, team defense and lobs (like delly used to do a lot)...

Guys, when TT is taking shots outside of the paint, there is an opportunity cost that is pretty significant: he can't get into good rebounding position.

You are taking one of our there best rebounders and mitigating his biggest strength. It would make him worthless.
