Hahahahahahaha!!!!

It's like the Pacers are new to trade bargaining and want to make a big impression, so they go wayyyy overboard with their trade demands. Meanwhile the master Danny Ferry is sitting on the other line sipping on a 25 year old scotch just to keep from laughing out loud into the phone.

Maybe the Pacers still think Paxson is the GM of the Cavs? I think they're out of the loop.

ah shoot; that's just the Pacer's first offer. I'm sure they made similar offers to other teams who are inquiring about Murphy. It's February 2nd. Just wait what their offer will be come February 17th. :chuckles:

Murphy was an interesting option back when we were getting outrebounded early on, but now I don't see the point. Hickson has picked up his rebounding and we are rebounding the ball better than any team in the Mike Brown era.(at least in the raw rebounding numbers, not sure about other rebounding metrics) Murphy is a horrible defender and his outside shooting won't offset that enough.

A multiple choice question for Cavs fans:

A) You would trade Hickson straight up for Murphy.

B) You would trade Z for Murphy if you knew Z would be bought out and brought back.

C) You would trade Z for Murphy even if we could not get him back.

D) None of the above.

Pacers asking for too much for Murphy
Posted by Mike Wells

The Pacers have work to do if they expect to be able to trade forward Troy Murphy before the Feb. 18 deadline.

The Pacers have already tried to send him to Cleveland, but those talks didn't last long because they were asking for too much, according to a source.

The Pacers wanted the Cavaliers to give up forward J.J. Hickson, center Zydrunas Ilgauskas and multiple draft picks for Murphy, the source said.

Read the comments, even the pacer fans agree they're asking for too much. :chuckles:

I agree, b only. I am one of the few that prefer murphy over jamison because of age, but i dont want to give up alot for him either. Unlike last year, this year i would prefer no trade unless we get a young stud like AI or give up very little except cap relief.

I am just not seeing Murphy as a difference maker. Maybe he would be a good pairing with Shaq, but I don't see it making a big difference. I don't like him much. He would easily be the ugliest player on our team too.

Easily the ugliest? Moon looks like Pippens ugly younger brother, and West if he didnt have personality would never get laid. You just think he is ugly because he makes Z look like he has a tan. :chuckles:

As for fit, I think he would fit perfectly with either shaq or Andy. We could start him with Andy if needed moving foward. Murphy has a few good years left in him and is still only 29. He really is more of an outside shooting center imo, but thats what would make him a good matchup with Andy. It would give us an option after shaq/z that we currently dont have.

Many are underating Murphy. He is quite simply the best shooting big man in the league. Also, he is the best rebounding stretch big man in the league. Sure he has no inside game. Sure he has no athletic ability. And sure he cant play D. But he does add a dimension that he excells at. And he is still in his 20's. Not asying murphy is perfect, just saying he has more merrit than most give him credit for.

I've said before I'll be disappointed at the trade dealine if we end up getting Murphy. But if B is the best option that Ferry has at the trade deadline, it would be better than standing pat. At least we add a piece for practically nothing and have more trade flexibility next year. Plus the pundits all demand that we need to add a stretch 4 to be a contender.

I'd pick D over A and C.

True story about Delonte. Where I used to work, there was this amazingly hot chick-- easy 10. She thought Delonte was the hottest guy in the world. I never understood that.

As for Murphy's fit on this team, he pairs up quite well with Shaq. Murphy/Shaq and AV/Z are two phenomenal frontcourt combos. Murphy/AV could also work at times.

That would be a lot to ask just for Jamison. What makes Murphy so special? He is a nice player, but im not sure I would want to give up Hickson for him. The least Indiana could have did was throw in another player to make it look better.

I have seen Murphy live once. He did basically nothing against the Bulls. He has been a total non-factor against the Cavs. The Pacers stink. They only win when they are red hot. I just don't see how he helps the team. My opinion is that Z is only marginally worse shooting the ball, and he is a better defender. I guess Murphy gives us a younger player who can be shut down by good defenses for years to come.

Dont confuse overall ability and shooting. Dirk is a far better player. He has an inside game, and he has the ability to put the ball on the floor. That said, Murphy is a career 40.0% 3 point shooter, dirk is a career 38%. Murphy is a better shooter than Dirk. He is also a better rebounder, but the fact is Dirk is 10 times the player Murphy is for alot of other reasons.
