Dont confuse overall ability and shooting. Dirk is a far better player. He has an inside game, and he has the ability to put the ball on the floor. That said, Murphy is a career 40.0% 3 point shooter, dirk is a career 38%. Murphy is a better shooter than Dirk. He is also a better rebounder, but the fact is Dirk is 10 times the player Murphy is for alot of other reasons.

I still think Dirk is the better shooter as well, especially being one of the main options he sees much heavier defense compared to Murphy. Just my opinion though, but it's hard not to be impressed with how good Dirk really is so anyone can blow it out of proportion.

Shooting doesn't just include the 3 pointers, Dirk has a deadly midrange game, he is the best big man shooter in the NBA!

Ever since this thread was made, I have made a more consolidated effort to follow and watch Murphy...pretty underwhelming. He is okay though. If we can get him for free with Z and a buyout, great...but he is nothing special.

Not for Z, JJ, and multiple first rounders... no, no thanks.

Hahahahahahaha!!!!

It's like the Pacers are new to trade bargaining and want to make a big impression, so they go wayyyy overboard with their trade demands. Meanwhile the master Danny Ferry is sitting on the other line sipping on a 25 year old scotch just to keep from laughing out loud into the phone.

Maybe the Pacers still think Paxson is the GM of the Cavs? I think they're out of the loop.

That's what Windy reported too in one of his podcasts...he didn't give details except to say Indy was demanding too much and that they wanted draft picks (plural)...I've read on fan boards people (Pacers fans included) suggest Z (buy out) plus Cavs 2010 pick (likely #29 or 30) for Murphy. Those with any sense know that Z plus Hickson is too much. And Hickson, a 21 year old former #19 pick with 2 years NBA experience on an elite team, is worth more than the last pick in the first round of the 2010 draft.

If you go to that Pacers blog, you'll also read that Jeff Foster is out for the season. Some think this makes Indy less likely to trade Murphy, since they are light on bigs, but I disagree. Indy would have stood to clear Foster's $6.6m off the books for 2011. If they don't clear some salary, they will likely be in the tax. Assuming they can't move TJ Ford, Murphy is the most obvious player to trade to get out of the tax. So they lose a few more games this year. All that means is they get a better pick. The fans there have given up on this team, and probably would hardly even notice that Murphy had been salary dumped.

But as with Washington and Jamison, it's their choice. Apparently they only have a week to decide, unless Ferry has made the decision for them.

EDIT: I don't imagine this would be Ferry's preference, bu one thing about trading for Murphy is that he could then be flipped in the off-season for Iguodala if Iguodala isn't traded before the deadline...It does seem that Philly is really motivated to move him though.

He does a couple of things very well, but he does alot of things well below average. He is useful, he isnt essential.

Still think better option than Jamison. Jamison's age will prove me right very soon. He will soon fall of the earth and then we are stuck with a very bad contract looking at a hard cap. I fear a jamison type move makes lebron leave because it depletes our roster and we loose flexibility.
