Tyronn Lue has been fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What's worse than allowing one of the worst teams in the NBA to set a record number of 3's and score 133 points?

I never said they were good defensively, far from it. We're not bad because we switch though.

Would you agree that some switches are more useful than others? They are literally doing it every time. To the point you have Love on Trey Young, and Sexton on Len. Seems a bit foolish no?

The right tool has a right time. You can't be talking about how great a hammer is when we are trying to screw some wood together.

Yeah. When your opponent figures out how to attack your defense and then starts scoring at will...it's time to start doing something else. Mix it up a little bit, shit was infuriating to watch.

I gotta be honest, I want our young guys to mature and develop but Lue being Lue has become like chicken soup or Public Square at Christmastime...it's nourishment for the soul.

I'd honestly be lost if Lue found his way.

Those are only outcomes if you fuck up the switch. I won't argue that our defense is being taught correctly, I don't believe it is, but switching screens is not a problem.

They aren't just switch PnRs. They're switch all off the ball screens. Even non-screens.

If you can actually just walk around the screener because he's not actually screening...then do so. Don't switch.

I’ve seen this discussion being had in multiple threads and here’s my take. Switching can stymy an offense but only if the 4 or 5 man who is NOT involved in the switch takes Hill or Sextons man IMMEDIATELY.

At first I thought wow this is not working because TT and Love don’t have good off ball awareness to make it work (Zizic doesn’t either). “Trust” was being thrown around last year as code for guys not being team players on defense.

The issue is the two folds when it comes to addressing the problem:

(1) Poor coaching and lack of discipline/execution. Lue either needs to yank guys or take a timeout. Never happens, we just collect the ball out of the net and proceed on offense while making the same critical error again and again.

(2) Personnel issue. We’re an awful defensive unit and this style requires a particular set of athletes with high B-ball IQ and we’re short on those. Cedi, Nance and Nwaba are great but good luck getting points on the other end.

Someone mentioned this but SGA is the selection if constant switching was the end game. Correct me if I’m wrong but I though one of Sexton’s strengths was chasing a guard around screens and closing the distance. He’s gotten pretty good results in SL and preseason when he’s been in that position.

It's truly amazing that we managed to collect 2 of the 3 worst head coaches in their respective American sports leagues.

Should we swap Tito for Dusty Baker and just make it the poop-fecta?

That is a insult to Dusty Baker. There are a bunch of managers worse than him and both Lue/Hue pale. Baker gets his guys ready to play in the spring and simply isn't a good postseason manager due to his lack of strategy ability.

Frye and Korver should have been in the rotation from the start.

Play Frye and Nance together in the 2nd unit. That’s right Coach, 2 bigs. Get Dekker outa there.

Sexton
Clarkson
Korver
Nance
Frye

That's a defensive nightmare.

As opposed to what we’ve been seeing? That lineup has more length and bball IQ. Dekker has neither of those and he’s slow.

I like Nwaba. He should see minutes somehow, but you gotta play Clarkson the way he’s been scoring the ball.

Clarkson makes himself look good when he's on the floor. The problem is that he makes everyone he plays with worse.

He's basically a playground player. Hopefully, some other team sees him scoring, doesn't pay enough attention to his overall effect on the floor, and decides he's a player they want.
