This is kind of why I'm almost expecting him to go the Shaq route. Phoenix doesn't seem to care about keeping him, they'd take Ben and Sasha for him considering the buyouts and player options, it does make us better, and his contract expires next year. In that regard I'm fine with Shaq, I just wish we had other options like Chandler a possibility as I'd like to see us actually get younger in the "getting better" process.
 
We could have gone the Shaq route last year and that could helped immediately (for dwight purposes) and this year as well (as a heavy a@@ expiring contract that many teams salivate for).

SHAQ, BEN, and SASHA's contract this year could have netted us a blockbuster trade for a superstar or can bring in two quality guys. Well its in the past now. What do we know? :rolleyes:

Of course this is all true but the financial hit that Gilbert would have taken woulda been tremendous. He's willing to dole out the cash but that scenario would have been ridiculous.

We're a little spoiled by Gilbert's deep pockets...if there wasn't that huge downside to Wally for Shaq, I can assure you Ferry would have pulled the trigger.
 
Chandler is a solid center if he can stay healthy. If results on his rehab are positive I say we take a chance. If he works out and we manage to get a PF who can score our front line is bolstered significantly. The safest route still is Camby though but its not a long term solution. I am also not sure that they would trade Camby due to the fact that his deal is expiring and he could be used to mentor Griffen and I want no part of Zack
 
If Wallace is going to retire, that makes him a very valuable asset.
I would rather use him to get someone better than Chandler.

What about....
Wally (S&T 4Million) + Pavs (5 mill - 1.5 buyout) + Cash for Chandler.

Trade Wallace, Jackson for Brand.
S&T AV for G-Wallace

Give Artest the MLE.....Kidd the Bi-Annual.

Everybody says they want to get younger, but the thing about huge ass expiring contracts is they are not going to get you a young player because young players don't have big contracts or if they do they are probably pretty good so why would the team trade him? There are a few exceptions such as Chandler, but if we want to get younger it is unlikely to happen through trade IMO. The only reason I would trade for Shaq now is cause he has one year left and we would still be extremely flexible in 2010, which I am not huge on putting all our eggs in that basket, but this way we would compete and still have a chance at getting younger through FA.

I want no part of Brand due to his contract. If he does not work here we are sunk plus that kicks us out of the Bosh sweepstakes.

Do you deal in Canada to? Or does your dealer deal in Canada?

I like the basis of your idea, about using Wallace for something better than Chandler. But then you had to go and sign Artest for the MLE, and Kidd for the BAE and then you had us trade for Brand which is a huge no-no.

This might honestly be the dumbest thing I have ever read... Ever position and his back up would be an all-star or potential all-star.

Hey I heard Kobe can be had for Ben and Hickson because Lakers got their ring (this year out of him) and Orlando is willing to give up on thier 23 year old center because they just don't think he has it, they are interested in big guards because they like them... oh wait they just accepted Sasha for this kid named Dwight Howard.

I am a huge Chandler fan if he was healthy, but that is a huge if... From some of the other boards it seems like we won't touch Chandler because his health is too risky.

But a healthy Chandler is one of the few players in this league that can match up one on one with Dwight Howard on the defensive end. He is also an excellent finisher at the rim...which Lebron has never played with in his entire NBA career. Match Chandler and a shooting PF like Charlie Villanueva and you have yourself quite a nice young front court.
