W&G: DEADLINE DAY IS HERE !

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
maybe cuz joe said if he gets bought out hes going to the celtics

He didn't, that's what ESPN said. Last I checked, Joe Smith didn't say where he wants to go, and we can offer twice the amount of money the Celtics can since we have our full MLE still.

If we were BOS. Or LAL, the league would emnable a trade.

But we are CLE with no history and trying to keep LBJ in our "small market"...

We don't get foul calls, get triple doubles revoke and so on....

Gentlemen, it is time to circle the wagons and get behind this team and our GM big time. We have to go GET our title.

No handouts for us, like KG and Gasol.

We MUST support this team 120%

Let's GO CAVS!!!!

All I know is that I better have quotes from everyone on the Cavaliers saying how happy they are that they got to stick together, and how the camaraderie of this team is going to be able to carry them even if they aren't as talented as some other teams.

I don't want to hear another thing about the team being tired or complacent. That's over now. Go to work every night, win basketball games. No more excuses.

Yes, there were some players that would have looked good in a CAVs uniform but it takes two to trade. If Danny Boy had traded Wally, JJ, AV and a pick for Miller and Salmons or RF or VC, for example there would have been a riot on this board and you would have thought Ferry the dumbest GM around. Thinking back to when he called that meeting among the Vets, I thought I read somewhere that there was some sentiment for standing pat. Wally is a valuable part of this team and if not for some inconsistency at times can shoot. If Boobie steps it up this team can still win it all.

We won't know if today was bad until June. This is the best Cavaliers team ever assembled, and we can beat anyone in the NBA in a 7 game series. I still like our chances.

Again, I agree, this is a great team. But we could've gotten considerably better this season and instead we settled. Worst of all, I really think we didn't settle but simply made an error in judgment waiting until the last second to try and find a favorable deal. I think that plan backfired and was poorly thought out.

I think you're wrong.

I like the enthusiasm.

It wouldn't have taken Wally, JJ, AV and a pick for Miller/Salmons...

thank god the deadline has passed now we can focus on games again and i dont have to check these boards every 2 minutes anymore

I think you're wrong.

I think you're right.

We didn't just "settle." Ferry was aggressive and trying to get something done...but it takes 2 teams to trade, and we couldn't find one that we we're satisfied with. Ferry didn't want to give up JJ, because he's confident he's going to be good. I Believe in Danny Ferry.

I know that was not the exact trade I was just saying that if Ferry overpaid, no one would be happy either.

Some of this criticism is amazing. Since no one knows all the particulars of trade possibilities it's kind of hard to get so pissed.
It's sure seems like Wally's contract wasn't enough to get a deal done. Teams didn't want to give up talent the Cavs wanted and that would fit here for nothing.

I agree. Considering we were desperate to make a move, sellers always had the advantage over us (the buyers). The truth is we would have had to overpay to get a stud. Everyone was so convinced we could throw out Wally and some scraps and everyone would be at our feet, it was ridiculous around here.

We know Ferry was constantly on the phone. Some speculation is that he knew we couldn't land anything big but was posturing to satisfy Lebron. Who knows...I think he really gave an effort but weighed the options w/ changing our chemistry. Just because trades work in the ESPN trade machine doesn't mean they work in real life. And Windy is just reporting the rumors, I don't know why people jump on him when he isn't our GM.

No major moves were made by any championship contenders, so we'll have to deal with it.

...and there's still a small chance that news of a Cleveland trade won't hit the media for a few hours.;)

There is only one thing upsetting me about not moving Wally. His 13.8 million will expire and Cavs will not be allowed to sign another player to replace him. They are too far over the cap.

Unless I am mistaken, they cannot sign anyone in free agency. Can they? Are they allowed to go over the hard cap and still pay the luxury or are they only allowed to go over the cap in signing current players or trading contracts?

I wonder if Ferry asked for an extension in time so he can work out a deal. You never know.
