Meaningless poll, but lets play....where will the pick end up after the lottery?

DMC for the pick or not the pick, that is the question!?

This is so tricky because I can see both sides to this...I've personally wavered back and forth. I say if the pick is projected to be out of the top 5 at the TD then you definitely shop it + filler for Cousins. Non of the prospects particularly excite me outside of Doncic, Bagley, Porter, Bamba, and Ayton.
DMC is a FA risk for any team that trades for him.

IF it got to the point where NO looked to trade him, it should not take the Nets pick.

Salary match(Frye/Shump) + some combo(maybe 2 of 4) of Cedi/Ante/our 2018 1st/2021 1st would be more than fair.

That'll be crazy.

But Boogie is a 'get him at all costs' player if he's available, and I say that because it provides to our championship aspirations. So in fact I would be willing to offer up the Nets pick if Nawleans returned a call back saying we have better offers and thinking about pulling the trigger asap.

Obviously LeBron will have to be in the war room on this one and give his word and also get word on Boogie's plans. When it comes to making such a move, you need loyalty and assurances. There's no dicking around with a potential #1 draft pick and I hope LeBron doesn't pull that shit with Gilbert.

Wait, it would be crazy to get Boogie in general or are you saying it'd be more crazy to give up(for example) Cedi and our own 2018 pick or Ante and 2021 pick for DMC

Because I place a way higher value on the Nets pick than any two part sequence/combo of Cedi, Ante, 2018 1st, and 2021 1st

In general, I've been talking about the dream for awhile now. I'm willing to go all in on such a talent like him and hope he stays. LeBron paired with just Boogie is dangerous as hell, imagine every other Cav.

Boogie also hates:

Boogie may be the only star made available this deadline, but I would give major pause to trading for him.

Not because of him as a player or his attitude or draft prospects or anything like that...just that I'd find it hard to believe Dan would be okay with going into the summer with potentially 3 max free agents needing to be re-signed in LBJ, Cousins, and IT.

That would be a lot of dough, and it seems like we are trying to work our way away from cap hell right now.

Only way the Cavs trade the pick is if some star with multiple years on his deal and also under the age of 30 is available.

Which is why I said it would require something ridiculous and out of the blue ala Kyrie demanding a trade.

Those kind of guys just aren't available very often.

Something like Rudy Gobert demanding a trade.

We need one of them to make KD money

I do think there's a slight chance Minnesota does not live up to expectations this year.

If they are looking like a lottery team around the deadline, Butler could very well be available, given that he is a FA in 2019.

I just don't think they'll trade him... It's possible, but.. I just don't know that they would do it.

I mean, I suppose the reasoning could be that he'll be 29 years old next season, and by the time the Wolves are really ready to compete, he'll likely be 30+ ... So the argument might be to trade him while he's in his prime (which is right this moment), and hope that Wiggins turns into .. something.

With KAT and Wiggins being the same age (22), they might view getting a rookie out of this draft at 19 making the most sense for a long-term vision that has them competing after the Warriors disband due to contract sizes (3-4 years from now).

To give an idea of the age ranges we're talking about; a 4 year plan would put KAT/Wiggins at only 26 years old, 2 years younger than Butler is now (Butler would be 32), and that would mean the BKN pick would likely be 23-24 years old.

It's an interesting strategy, but again, I don't know that they'd be motivated to do it this year. Maybe at the draft, especially if we landed the #1 guaranteed pick after the lottery.. But do you trade the #1 guaranteed pick in THIS draft for Jimmy Butler? I would not make that trade.

I don't believe trading for Boogie moves the needle in a finals match up, and that it actually is more likely to blow up their face.

Unless one of IT, LeBron, Cousins or Love is willing to completely give up scoring the way Draymond has in GS, it simply won't work.

Especially with Thibs at the controls in a coaching and FO capacity, there is zero chance Butler would be moved this year. He loves Butler. He loves vets. He thinks about winning in the moment/this year way more than the exciting lure of down the road potential.

We got the star who is gonna not take a cent less than the max.

Golden State somehow got 4 stars who all seem willing to take less than the max.

At least GSW is 0-1. :chuckle:

I'd try to re-sign IT, of course, but I wouldn't throw a max at him and I doubt that many teams in the league would.

Right, it's exceptionally hard to believe Thibs would pull a Hinkie and look to plan out this way; but the more I think about it, it does make some sense.

If the Wolves could tank, get his own high lottery pick and get the BKN pick, imagine if the Wolves could get 2 Top 4-5 picks in this upcoming draft?

I mean, that's not their strategy... but, it's interesting to think about; especially in a post-Lin world..
