Welcome Larry Sanders and So Long

Agreed that D-league performance doesn't tell you how someone will perform in the NBA. But D-league minutes have still got to be very useful for someone who hasn't played basketball in two years. I mean, it's still the same sport, and some pretty good players are competing for real. Seems like the best possible way to get in shape and restore your timing/familiarity with the game.

But I wish I had more confidence -- or any confidence -- in Lue's ability to make the right decision about when and how to use Sanders with the Cavs. He has been so awful in developing players and setting lineups that it's very hard to trust his judgement.

If / when Sanders is ready I would love to see a little bit of experimentation with a more athletic lineup featuring Derrick Williams, Sanders, etc. but Lue isn't even using Williams to address our athleticism problem and help rest people. Deciding how to use Sanders is more complicated so why will he do that well?

Its only about getting him in shape, that is enormous.

You are correct that D-League does almost nothing else for him but a but of timing.

But getting in shape is first before even playing minutes at the pro level.

Quick question on Sanders. If the Charge make it into the D-League Finals are we allowed to keep him there and then call him up in the second round or something?

He’ll be on our playoff roster, we can bring him up or not bring him up whenever we feel like it.

Its not about what he is now.. its about what he very well could be in a few weeks or even next Season. Now he is "ok" but if he could get back to 60% the Player he was this year and 90-100% next year he will be a huge steal

Sanders getting 16 rebounds in limited minutes is something to be excited about, regardless of it being a D-League game or not, it's not something many can do - that was honestly 2k type numbers.

I'm not looking at Sanders to be a scorer, I'm also not counting a ton on him regardless. But I really want Lue to start preparing for Sanders, because I am assuming the Cavs bring him up before the playoffs and he becomes a member of the rotation.

It's definitely needed, maybe more so now considering we would like to have Tristan Thompson take a break here and there before the playoffs begin.

Game 4 in D-League = 04/16/2 with 1 BS in 18 minutes (back-to-back game) ==> 4/01/17

The Charge now move on to the playoffs, which seems to be an 8-team tournament with 3 stages (conference semifinals; conference finals; finals) that appears to be a best-of-three set-up, at least in the first round. Charge play on the following dates:

April 05 at 7:00pm
April 08 at 7:30pm
April 11 at 7:30pm

Great to see Sanders able to put up a strong game in a back-to-back situation yesterday. Hopefully this means his conditioning and timing continue to improve.

So, it looks like if the Cavs want to keep Sanders with the Charge for at least 10 more days, they can do that.
