Agreed that D-league performance doesn't tell you how someone will perform in the NBA. But D-league minutes have still got to be very useful for someone who hasn't played basketball in two years. I mean, it's still the same sport, and some pretty good players are competing for real. Seems like the best possible way to get in shape and restore your timing/familiarity with the game.
But I wish I had more confidence -- or any confidence -- in Lue's ability to make the right decision about when and how to use Sanders with the Cavs. He has been so awful in developing players and setting lineups that it's very hard to trust his judgement.
If / when Sanders is ready I would love to see a little bit of experimentation with a more athletic lineup featuring Derrick Williams, Sanders, etc. but Lue isn't even using Williams to address our athleticism problem and help rest people. Deciding how to use Sanders is more complicated so why will he do that well?
