I know this is reactionary as we haven't had the time together to really see if this team can gel, but so far, the shaq experiment isn't looking that great. We have 30+ point first quarters without him, and can't score 20 with him. We just look out of place with him in right now.

I think eventually we'll get it together, but I'm surprised I haven't seen any trade scenarios involving the Big Diesel.

Isn't he our biggest expiring? Wouldn't he have more value to send out, wait for the buyout, and bring back than Z would?

Does anyone see a scenario where this is possible. Are there any players that could be had for him?

His contract is just too damn big.. the only one that would match player-for-player is T-Mac I believe..

I'd say keep Shaq if that's all we could get, but I don't think it has to be a player for player deal does it?

I don't think it's going to happen, but Shaq for Kurt Thomas and Michael Redd works... Redd is obviously not in Milwaukee's plans if you watched the game on ESPN last night... Thomas ' contract is up after this year, but Redd is on the hook for next year @ 18mil.

Also, just playing around on trade machine, this works too. (Assuming NO wants to dump salary)

Shaquille O'Neal
Delonte West

I know these are stretches, but I induldged myself for a minute... Also, we'd be on the hook for some salary and unable to make a splash in the FA market this year.

Plus they wouldn't trade him till at least December 16th because what would they do with all those Shaq bobbleheads that they're supposed to hand out on the 15th :chuckles:

I guess frontoffice will wait and see the result of two games vs Lakers and vs Magic on Feb. 13.

I don't see any way, especially this early, that they would even THINK about trading him. I don't see it happening...ever...this season. It's like admitting defeat. You'd basically be saying "You know that huge move we made in the offseason? Yeah it's already a total failure." Reeks of panic and desperation.

Coming into the lineup after 6 games off is going to change the way we play basketball. It will take some time to adjust. Yes, our offense seems to have been smoother with him out, but we also gave up 10 pts/game MORE in the paint, so our interior defense has been a lot worse.

Also remember, Shaq is the ONLY reason we beat the Wiz the first time. And last night, we started to play a lot better when we went inside to him.

Rather than freak out and trade him, how about we just learn to play with him in the lineup?

As bad as we have look Shaq did great vs Dwight and that is why we got him.

I may be in the minority here, but I'd trade Shaq now, and get something for that salary. Next year, with him and Z both expired, our front court depth will be even more depleted, with no money to add a player.

Shaq and his LSU connection would be a prime fit to put butts in seats in NO as well as save them a boatload of cheese.

Targetting Okafur for Shaq with maybe Posey in there to balance salaries and we add a bigger perimeter defender, as well as stud defensive anchor in the paint for the next 4-5 years.

Unless we feel that right now, this team can beat orlando in a series with shaq, i abort mission and go into damage control mode, before we lose our playoff seeds, as well as gimp our roster for the next few years.

Since we will have zero money for FA next year except MLE and maybe BLE I have played around at using Shaq, Z, and West, in one or more trades this year. That's $25.7 million in expiring contracts and you could also add Wally. We could be massive players if teams start to dump salary and such. IMO, it would be 100% that Shaq would sign with another team if bought out. Just a gut feeling.

I think you'd have to throw in Hickson, or some type of talent to get that trade to work...but that's the type of deal you'd have to do, because you'd need to get another big C back in return.

I don't expect Shaq to be traded.

We're successful with Shaq. We're not successful with Shaq/Andy. Shaq/JJ, Shaq/LeBron, Shaq/Moon is fine. That's just my opinion though.

Shaq probably won't be traded because he's here to go against Dwight Howard, and to give us options this offseason.

What options? With his expiring we still aren't going to have any cap space. Bringing in a player with a longer contract isn't going to change that.

I do agree though, I don't think he's going to be traded.

I think if the Cavs are treading water near the trade deadline and hovering around .500, they move him and cut their losses.

In all honesty, I don't see them moving him, because his contract is so damn big. The only way he's moved is if there is a team doing a massive salary dump.
