What do we do now?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sign CV/Dice/Sheed with the MLE. Draft an athletic wing with size with higher pick W&G alluded we can trade up for.

If you can keep #30, pick up a backup PG

That gives us a stretch PF, fills the void at backup PG, and fills the void of an athletic wing defender with size. Also gives our roster an infusion of youth and young talent.

That is probably the best we can do, barring a S&T with Varejao.

PG - Mo / Drafted PG / Delonte
SG - Delonte / Drafted Wing / Gibson
SF - James / Drafted Wing / FA signing
PF - CV / Varejao (?) / Smith (?) / Hickson
C - Shaq / Z / FA signing

Adjust the rotation based on who we end up drafting - perhaps Delonte slides to the bench

That is the most poignant thing Bucher has said in his career.

Id run 1-5 & 3-5 pick n rolls on the Cavaliers all game.

Isn't that what teams did to us anyways? Yes.

But guess what, on a positive side, we have a post option and a low post defender.

Shaq can't be worse than Z at defending the pick and roll. Its not possible. So we got better.

Be happy.

That is basically exactly what I want. I am hoping we could some how get a swing that has NBA experience after doing all this, but I don't see how we could get a good one unless Grant Hill or Anthony Parker would accept the BAE here.

Defensively there is a bigger question mark. There is no doubt that Shaq is a worse pick-and-roll defender than Z is at this point in their careers.

Z gave his best effort to show 25 feet from the basket and recover into the paint since Mike Brown became coach. It was something no other center his size is asked to do in the NBA.

Shaq hasnt played any pick n roll defense since he left LA. His coaches have let him sit back on pick n roll and put the impetus on the man defending the ball to get over a screen.

LeBron James dies on the pick in just about every screen roll situation. He has gotten over about 5 of them in 6 years. Maurice Williams gets lazy and starts running under screens avoiding as much contact as he can.

WE DRAFT DIONTE CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We already have 2 'young PFs'. Draft the wing and use the MLE for CV or Sheed (yuck).

This is great!! I woke up to get a drink of water and figured I would check here to see if anything has happened!! Hell yeah!!! Now I'm too exited I can't get back to sleep!! What a great day Thursday will be. I do agree about Andy not being here next year. I would much rather have Z than Andy anyways. Z will finish his career a Cavalier. Bob Finan said that CV coming here for a MLE will not happen. So lets hope that we can get a guy like Sheed and trade Andy for a wing like Carter (even though saleries don't match). I think I shit my pants when I heard the news!!!! I was like holy crap!!!!

W&G said Gilbert wants as much cap space as possible for next year, which isn't a shock. But that's a big reason the Cavs decided on acquiring Shaq over someone like Chandler. I wonder how much of a priority it is concerning the PF spot. Rasheed is far more likely to sign a one-year contract than CV.

Actually, Washington needs bigs now. So, maybe we could get Miller from them. Not saying that is what I want to do. Just saying it might be a possibility.

Not really.
They Have Javale McGee who is a 21 year old 7 footer.
Brendan Haywood, 29 year old,7-0 starting center coming off a wrist injury.
Andre Blatche, 22 year old. 6-11 power forward.
Antwan Jamison, 33 year old, 6-9 power forward

So they dont'....... wait wait wait. Yeah, they do need some front court size. Hmm, and it would be possible to make the numbers work on a S&T, Miller for Verajo straight up.

One problem, they are disinclined to do anything the makes the Cavs better. Even if it improves thier team, helping the Cavs is almost a no go. Throw into that the fact that they thin that they are the natural rivals to the Cavs, and you can see now that getting Mike Miller from themis on the same level as getting Chris Bosh from Toronto.

Not going to happen. I'm sure that Ferry called them and asked, you gotta try at least. I'm just as sure that thier answer was to give him the dial tone.

As nice as it would be to add Miller, the Cavs are going to have to look elsewherefor a wing player.

And teams will defend the Lebron/Shaq P&R how? Will Orlando switch and let Hedo guard Shaq in the paint? I don't think so. If Shaq can make enough free throws, this will work.

What do we do next?

As much as everyone here seems to hate him here... we wait for Sasha to get cut and sign him for half of the BAE, and go after a guy like Barnes or Wally (I know everyone here hates him too) with the other half

thats 2 million bucks on guys who were almost 20 last year. Yes they sucked at 20 million but if we can get them for 2 million.... that's a steal

Wally can prob get the full BAE from someone (and maybe so could Pavs)... but it's a chance to play with Shaq and Lebron. Open shots for a three point shooter... sign a 1 year deal and hopefully make more the next elsewhere (well for Pavs anyways, Wally is prob done with pay increases)

Otherwise... Pavs enjoy playing in Europe!

Right now..

Mo, ????, West
West, Gibson, ?????
Lebron, ????, ????
?????, Andy, Hickson
Shaq, Z, Jackson

MLE = Sheed- Looks like Cavs want to be players in 2010 and Sheed will take a 1 year deal more so then CV.

#30 = Backup PG - Gibson can't run the point

Backup SG = Buy a draft pick?

Backup SF = BAE on an older guy? Re-sign Wally? Vet min to Sasha?

I'm very scared about the backup SG and SF roles. Right now we have TK and Gibson as our backup SG ans SF. :(

We're gonna need Andy to be our backup C after 2010
If we can sign Charlie V. to MLE, we can convince Fegan to agree to a deal where Andy is only payed $7 mil/year, because no other team will pay more, lest want to or be able to
My plan:

Sign Villanueva to MLE
Sign A. Parker or M. Barnes to BAE
Resign Andy
Draft SF & PG
Turn Z, Hickson, & Gibson (maybe Kinsey) into a legit SG, who can slide to SF when LeBron is on the bench (Carter, Maggette, S. Jackson, combo of Posey & Chandler, etc.
Z buys out and returns
Sign J Williams to Min. Deal
Sign Smith to Min. Deal

Williams / West / Pg
Carter(Jackson...) / Parker / Kinsey
James / Young? / Williams
Villanueva / Jackson / Smith
Shaq / Varejao / Ilgauskas

I just don't see how you can move Hickson with how old we are. We need to hold onto all of our young players, imo.
