What if we land #1 pick?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would still have a very rough time doing something like that. Last year the Timberwolves wanted the Cavs #4 and a future first to move down from #2 to #4.

In your scenario though for New Orleans to have two top five picks, it would mean that their pick from Minnesota (slated at #10 right now) would have leaped into the top three since their own pick is slated at #4. This means that even if the Hornets moved up to #2 with their own pick, they would likely have picks #2 and #10.

If New Orleans came to me offering #2, #10, and an unprotected first next year in exchange for #1 and #24, I would have to think long and hard about it. I would probably still pass though. The thought of Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis together for the next 10+ years is just too powerful.

I agree that pairing Anthony Davis with Kyrie would be awesome, but it will be interesting to see what kind of trade offers the team with the #1 pick is presented. If the team that wins the lottery isn't sold on Davis it seems to me they could make out quite well in any trade and could accumulate multiple impact players instead of just one. If the Cavs rate Anthony Davis on the top of their board then this question is irrelevant but if they rate MKG or Beal higher based on their metrics then I wouldn't be upset to see them trade down and net a couple extra quality players at the other key positions.

I don't think there is a single GM out there that could possible have anyone rated higher than Davis. This guy is a franchise changing superstar waiting to happen. You can't say that about anyone else in this draft.

There is no 1a and 1b in this draft ... (like some referred to Kyrie and Williams last year, Oden and Durant, Rose and Beasley). There is a solid 1 (Davis) then a 2a, b, c, d, e (Drummond, Beal, MKG, Barnes, or Robinson).

If we land that #1 pick we draft Davis and prepare for some phenomenal years ahead with Kyrie, Davis and Thompson leading the way.
