What if we land #1 pick?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He is pretty strong. Robinson could not push him around and he is a moose. Posters made similar comments about Tristan, including me by the way, that he was too small to handle the middle. Yet he fared much better than I expected at center at the end of the season and did not get injured.

I am not sure that it matters what you call him. If he wants to be a power forward, call him a power forward. I think you could play he and Tristan as your bigs and they would function a lot like the Wallace's. Maybe that's enough. No matter what you call him, he is going to block shots, rebound like a vacuum cleaner and do offensive damage in the lane. He does remind me a bit of Garnett, but appear to be smarter. Garnett has surprised me with his durability, given he is not big wide. But he is tough as nails and yes a tad insane.. If that is Davis trajectory, he deserves that number one position...

Don't let KG's fake tough guy act fool you. His basketball IQ is insanely high. Very smart basketball player.

Besides Indiana, Chicago,,Milwaukee and Detroit? nobody, oh wait you said CONFERENCE.

Milwaukee and Detroit scare you?

Did Sesame Street scare you as a child?

And what we do with the number 1 pick is take Davis and pile up the rings.

I was not talking about his basketball IQ. But OK. I am still surprised by his durability, I realize he has not been 100 percent for the last few seasons, but we are talking about 17 years in the paint. The tough guy thing ain't an act..

To me Davis is best suited at PF where he can use his versatility in greater variety of ways. As his body develops you could play him minutes at C but I'd still prefer to use him primarily at PF. He really is a player you just put out there and let play.

Nice to fantasize and think any questions about Davis would be ones the Cavs would have to answer.

A frontcourt of TT and Davis would be amazing! Davis can be offensive PF and defensive C, while TT would be the opposite. But in the princeton offense, C's need to be playmakers, so Davis definitely fits there, if byron wants to try it again.

Page 7 has an argument about 6'11" and 7' with and without shoes on.......lol..... Hilarious...

If we land the number one pick, this could potentially be the best draft if Cavs history, if Grant does everything he can to make this draft historical.

First, if we get the number one, we keep it and draft Anthony Davis. Then, we send Andy and Luke Walton to the Hornets for their second lottery and Okafor. With the pick that we get from the Hornets, we draft Jeremy Lamb. Then, package the 24th and one of our second rounders to the Rockets for the 16th pick and take either Quincy Miller or Terrence Ross. With our now one second round pick we take Doron Lamb or John Jenkins.

That gives us:
Kyrie/Gibson
J. Lamb/ D.Lamb(Jenkins)
Miller(Ross)/Gee
TT/Samuels
Davis/Okafor

That is incredibly unlikely. It has to top Daugherty, Harper, and trading for Price who was taken with the first pick in the 2nd round. I'd be thrilled if we could match that much talent coming in one year. But, again, not likely to happen even if we win the first pick.

That's pretty much the exact draft that I'd do. As a matter of fact, I think I've said those exact things before in the same post. That'll do, pig. That'll do.

Hey, don't count it out. My hopeless optimism has been scorned in the past on these forums, yet look where it's led us so far these past two seasons! :chuckles: WE WILL WIN UNIBROW!

look at dwight howard.. when he came into the league he was scrawny (compared to right now) and Davis isnt even 20 i dont think. Hes more humble and thankful for what he has... davis will grow. strength, height, and maturity. hes a leader on the court and has Big Game experience (not the NBA Finals or even the NBA Playoffs, i know)

Davis+Thompson= SUCCESSFUL COMBO

Davis = Offensive PF, Defensive C
TT = Offensive C, Defensive PF

they will both get bigger as time goes on. Last preseason was too short for a player like TT to develop..

I think TT developed just fine. Perfect season in my mind. He ramped to a starting role. Played out of position much and managed to stay healthy. Improved week to week offensively and at the free throw line. Basically, he quieted the folks that said he was not worthy of the fourth pick. He may or may not be an allstar one day, but he proved that the Cavs FO were not pulling a huge boner with the four pick. I doubt we would trade him for any of the top ten (except Kryie) picks from that draft, if we had a postseason do over.

everyone knows it was a weak class but i still think TT would be top 10 because his college sophmore season wouldve most likely been great.. he played better than what people thought he would considering he was drafted much higher than what people thought.. if he grows in inch and gets stronger and developes a bit more of an offensive game, he is gonna be a great player i think. and thats why i think he and davis compliment eachother. they can play each others roles and thats whats great. TT is a hell of a rebounder. i think he and Kyrie will do fine with the addition of pretty much any other rookies in the lottery other than Robinson or Sully (as much as i love him)

So say the Cavs get the number 1 pick and NO gets 2 and another top 5 pick. If NO would be willing to accept the trade, not even sure they would as talent deprived as they are, should the Cavs attempt to trade #1 for #2 and the other top five pick?

I would still have a very rough time doing something like that. Last year the Timberwolves wanted the Cavs #4 and a future first to move down from #2 to #4.

In your scenario though for New Orleans to have two top five picks, it would mean that their pick from Minnesota (slated at #10 right now) would have leaped into the top three since their own pick is slated at #4. This means that even if the Hornets moved up to #2 with their own pick, they would likely have picks #2 and #10.

If New Orleans came to me offering #2, #10, and an unprotected first next year in exchange for #1 and #24, I would have to think long and hard about it. I would probably still pass though. The thought of Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis together for the next 10+ years is just too powerful.
