Now that it has become a sort of crunch time on the TPE, I was wondering what people think might still be out there for the TPE? I don't want to use it just to use it, and I really don't like taking on bloated salaries just for the sake of picks, because often those bloated salaries get in the way of developing our players for the future.
One thing I was thinking was about looking towards Utah. Picking up Kanter gave them an overflow of big men, both in salary and in bodies. They'll need to free up some space to try and keep AK47 as well as deal for some more wing players. I thought of this trade:
Jazz receive:
Ramon Sessions plus picks (It would take a few)
Cavs receive:
Al Jefferson
Now I think that it would be much more viable that the Cavs would get Okur, but this frees up so much cap space for the Jazz to go after some wing players and it lets them keep Milsap and Favors who were the main building blocks. Also, I think Okur will be key in the development of Kanter being a fellow countryman. Jazz get a quality backup PG in Sessions to backup Harris (who I think is very underrated).
Cavs get a great two way player in Al Jefferson, who with TT could solidify the paint for the next 8-10 years. It allows for AV to be traded without worry and we can get back some picks that we are giving to the Jazz when AV is traded. Jefferson is only 26 so there is still much left in his tank.
I don't think that it is too far fetched to think of Jefferson being traded because he seems like the oldest and most expensive on the team at this point. If the Jazz are truly rebuilding and they have selected Kanter, Favors, and Milsap to rebuild around, then I think Jefferson is the odd man out there. Cleveland gives the best chance for the Jazz to get picks and cap freedom to get the players that they need in free agency.
Let me know what you think, and please use sound, reasoned arguments that consist of more than a sentence that says "no way the Jazz go for that trade."
