I've got my Tayshaun avatar ready...

I think either prince or Rip is an upgrade on this team. Both can play team defense (when the rest of the team is playing team defense. Both can score. Prince is a better defensive matchup, and rip is a better scorer. I don't think you can look at this season and compare it with past years in detroit as neither of these players will carry the pistons. They are better in a balanced team situation where they are not the focal points, which is exactly the situation with the cavs.

I think we would have to give up parker, boobie and Moon to get either Rip or Prince. I think Prince is the least risky of the two, but Rip probably better fits the trade as it is a bigger salary savings for Detroit.

The rumor was that Washington didn't want Z for Jamison. Maybe we can Dice Z by using Detroit as a third team that can offer something for Jamison? IDK, but nobody from Detroit is a future answer, just a really win-now fix.

Rip is player that needs to have plays run and screens set for him constantly. MB is just dumb and would probably make Rip stand behind the 3 pt line.

That is exactly why I don't want Rip here. Everyone is complaining about Parker not using screens effectively but have you guys seen our bigs try to set screens.

Stats can't show things like that. Our bigs are horrible at freeing up guys like Parker. They can't set a solid screens consistenly enough to utilize players like Rip.

Besides as Thunder just pointed out MB would without a doubt make him stand behind the 3 point line and watch the ball.
What this team needs is a SG that can score on his own, a guy like Kevin Martin would be great but his defense would leave alot to desire.

Um, have you not seen Mo coming off of these screens? He gets quite a few looks coming off of screens from our bigs.

It's not always about the screens that are being set, it's about how you come off of them. And Rip's one of the best at doing that.

Definitely interesting about Rip. I think he would be a lot better than a lot of people think. Plus he has some legit playoff experience which is HUGE. I would only do this deal if Z gets bought out and that there are really no other deals out there.

Just give us Jamison already Washington. Whats taking so long

If the cavs could get anyone from the pistons i would want our beloved assistant coach john keuster back, and with the pistons current record it might not be too long to wait.

If there was a way that we could do something where we resign Wally + Cash and trade him for Rip and use Z + Delonte and trade them for Jamison + Blatche I would do it in a heartbeat. Would be a dream scenario IMO.

Mo/Boobie/Rip
Rip/Parker
LeBron/Jawad/Moon
Jamison/JJ
Shaq/Z/Blatche

Although I have absolutely no idea how trades work besides the cash matching up, but this is what I'd like to see happen..

there always seems to be a lot of talk about contracts in trade rumors like this....really I think that length and money of contracts should be the last thing on people's minds, it should be what gets the Cavs closer to a title now? if the Cavaliers make a trade for an all star level player this trade deadline it doesn't matter who it is they will most likely limit themselves in the offseason. really that is fine by me as the only real thing that needs to be done is resign LeBron.

I like most people coming into the season thought that the Cavaliers biggest need would be at the 4 but after watching the team so far I do think they are much better along the front line then they are at the 2. West has played well of late but as some has mentioned we don't really know what his mental status will be for the rest of the season and Parker really hasn't been anything to write home about. he is what he is a spot up guy who can play off of LeBron but he is a guy the Cavs could find an upgrade for.

is Rip the best answer? don't know. I am sure more names will start to pop up as we get closer and closer to the deadline but I do think he would be a good add to the Cavs roster. championship experience, solid defender, doesn't need the ball in his hands all the time to be effective, can create a shot for himself, and should be extra motivated to be back on a winner after the pisstons have been dismantled. the fact that his numbers have been down this year don't really concern me because he has become more of a focal point for opposing defenses this season but the fact that he has been banged up this season is a concern.

I would love to have Rip on the Cavs but I am also curious as to what other names may pop up

I don't know how you guys aren't seeing the prospect of Tayshaun to be at LEAST intriguing. I think it would make the small lineup terrifying for other teams. I see Prince as a player who could certainly push us over the top, and a much better addition than Jamison.

Tayshaun Prince plays the same position as LeBron, has been perpetually injured for a year and a half, isn't very good offensively, and isn't even that great of a shooter.

He's not even close to Jamison as far as how well he'd fit and work here. Not even on Jamison's level.

Agreed. I think if we can take on RIP's salary they'd have to throw Charlie V in. Now, if we can't obtain Jamison, that is not a bad second option at all.

Many negatives about Charlie V, but for obvious reasons he would fit in well playing next to Shaq or Andy.

Prince (knee) remains day-to-day: Pistons F Tayshaun Prince (knee) missed Monday's game in New York, his fourth consecutive missed game. He remains day-to-day.

Injury Report

(Updated - 1/18/10)

Prince missed 26 games and hasn't performed well when healthy, averaging just 8.9 points per game. With the offseason additions of Charlie Villanueva and Ben Gordon, Prince doesn't get quite as many touches as he needed. Reserve him until he makes himself useful again.
