Windhorst: Kaman and Camby on Cavaliers' radar

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If you think the Ritalin is making my job easier as an inner city public school teacher, you have another thing coming.

Ironically, I have kicked around doing a discertation with this title: ADD in the White World and ADD for Everyone Else.

Meds are over-perscribed for suburbanites, yet in public housing, very few families take their kids to regular doctor appointments. The media covers what happens with suburbanite kids, but nobody talks about the needs of kids in foster homes.

I'm way off-topic now, so I will shut up and thank you for noticing.

That's crazy stuff....my brother and many of my closest friends are also teachers, so I spend alot of time hearing about issues like this.

I just can't believe we've become so obsessed with prescription drugs, I think it speaks volumes about our culture....pop a magic pill and fix all your problems. Quick and easy....(sigh)

Ritalin is strong stuff. Schedule 2....chemically similar to cocaine. In fact, some people grind the stuff up, snort it, and get a cocaine-like effect.

And they write prescriptions for it to children? Scary stuff.....

Sorry to go OT....can delete if you want.

but, but, but... he's German!

Technically...isn't he "German"(air quotes)...?? Didn't he have to become a German citizen to play for them?

He was born in MICHIGAN....:chuckles:.....and I believe it was his Great-grandparents who were from Germany. ;)

Much, much, much rather have Camby because not only does he give the Cavs exactly what we need up front but his contract expires while Kaman still has 3 years left..

While Kaman is pretty talented and would be a decent fit, his contract can't be justified by his play and I don't feel comfortable acquiring him and knowing that we'd have little shot to acquire another big time FA in 2010..

Which is exactly why the Clippers probably won't trade Camby. He would be a good mentor for Griffin.

I don't think the Clippers can be choosy on who they want to keep and who they don't... No one really wants Randolph and Kaman's contract and injury history will scare some people away, which is why Camby will likely get traded away because he has the most value...

Not to be argumentative but we all invoked similar logic at the trade deadline when we thought the Clippers would play let's make a deal with the Cavs.

While I'd rather have someone like Okafor or Chandler, I will say one thing about Kaman; he is one of the very few traditional low post players left in this modernized league. If healthy, he has a very good low block game where he can create for himself.

I'm not sure Okafor is available and even if he were, I'm not sure the Cavs have the right assets to get him plus fill there other needs. The bottom line is that unless the Cavs are getting Bosh of Stoudimire (which I don't believe they are), Ferry needs to add 2 or 3 key players not just one. I think deals for Boozer and/or Okafor would greatly limit the Cavs ability to add another significant piece. We just don't have a lot of assets.

I'm pretty sure it was because the Clippers were asking too much (expirings and 1st round pick, IIRC)...

Kaman's USG% have been in the high teen's (low 20s once) throughout his career which suggest he's decent at creating a shot for himself, but not great... Z's had a consistent low 20's-mid 20s USG% throughout his career, for comparison's sake...

And about all this Okafor talk..just remember something: he'll be a 27 year old, undersized, who's limited offensively, has had injury problems in the past and is due a whopping ~$63 million over the next 5 years... Yeah, no thanks...

My wife is back in school studying for her Pharm D degree.....i will get her on this for you as soon as she graduates...:chuckles:

That's the problem with all of this candyland speculation.

People actually think we have enough trading pieces to get a Stat or Bosh, and still sign two other players to fill needed roles.

These are the same dumbasses calling for MB's head, and blaming our losses on Ferry not pulling the trigger.

Well....Griffin wasn't part of the picture back then. So while the Clips seemed to have a crowded frontcourt back then, without Griffin in the picture and Kaman just returning from injury....that situation was much different.

Now you have Griffin in the mix and Kaman getting even more time to get healthy. Big difference between now and then.

Everyone and their brother knows the Clips would probably prefer to trade Randolph....but who the heck is going to take him?

He was presumed untradeable with the Knicks before the Clips jumped into the mix and inexplicably traded for him. Now they are stuck with him.....I just don't see who takes on that contract. I suppose if the Pistons completely struck out in free agency they might take a chance....but quite frankly they would be better just saving their money and cap space for 2010 in that scenario....:chuckles:
