If you think the Ritalin is making my job easier as an inner city public school teacher, you have another thing coming.
Ironically, I have kicked around doing a discertation with this title: ADD in the White World and ADD for Everyone Else.
Meds are over-perscribed for suburbanites, yet in public housing, very few families take their kids to regular doctor appointments. The media covers what happens with suburbanite kids, but nobody talks about the needs of kids in foster homes.
I'm way off-topic now, so I will shut up and thank you for noticing.
That's crazy stuff....my brother and many of my closest friends are also teachers, so I spend alot of time hearing about issues like this.
I just can't believe we've become so obsessed with prescription drugs, I think it speaks volumes about our culture....pop a magic pill and fix all your problems. Quick and easy....(sigh)
Ritalin is strong stuff. Schedule 2....chemically similar to cocaine. In fact, some people grind the stuff up, snort it, and get a cocaine-like effect.
And they write prescriptions for it to children? Scary stuff.....
Sorry to go OT....can delete if you want.
