Windhorst: Kaman and Camby on Cavaliers' radar

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If u can get Kaman, do it. That would allow us to start AV, and he would mesh well with both JJ & Darnell.

I would then consider moving Ben for AK, and using the mle on kidd.

Draft a sf/sg.

lineup:

mo/kidd
west/kinsey/draft
Lbj/AK
Av/AK/JJ
Kaman/Z

i think we can get a way better player than AK47 for ben's contract for example richard jefferson. AK looked extremly bad over the last 2 seasons. i've watched the lakers - utah series and this guy is nowhere near the level he was before he signed that huge contract.

my reasoning for bringing up Ak is b/c he could be a defensive stopper for spots 1-4.

I know he has his warts, but his defense, passing & ball handling are impressive.

He's would be a tremendous upgrade guarding the lewis' of the league, while being more of a threat on offense at the 4 spot. I just think he gives us more options than RJ.

While I don't want to stray from the topic too much. I think Kirilenko could be productive player with a change of scenery.

After the big options that really aren't that realistic like Bosh and Amare than among the next tier of available players Kaman has to be right there. I also feel that unless the Cavs think they're virtually guaranteed to be able to sign one of the big time 2010 FA's, that they should try to find long term fits this offseason. Kaman would be a long term fit and one of the biggest reasons to pursue him is that the price should be fairly reasonable to get him to allow the Clippers to dump a big long term contract from their overcrowded frontcourt.

Solid productive C's aren't easy to find. When a chance comes up where you can get one than you should take advantage of it.
I also don't see Kaman's injuries as major long term problems. From what I could find it was mainly a badly sprained ankle that caused him to miss most of the games he missed 2 years ago and last season it was soreness in the arch of his foot or possibly a case of plantar fasciatis(sp?) that caused him to miss most of the games he missed. Neither should be injuries that would be long term lingering issues.

If the offseason ended up with a trade for Kaman and Villanueva for the MLE I couldn't complain that much at all. Although you could bring up some issues for both the Cavs would still be getting 2 young players to help fill in at C and PF, would improve the roster and versatility of the frontcourt, and who can be here and grow with this team long term.

I agree, especially with LeBron and Mo to push him, he could be great for us. Adding him and Kaman would be a very nice offseason imo.

Thats the question... What exactly is LA looking for in a return for Kamen? Young talent, a salary dump, bigs, guards, vets, picks? Im still trying to figure that one out.

It's the Clippers, I'm sure they'll take anything :chuckles:

I love the kamonster but his past couple seasons have been injurt plagued. It really seemed like he milked his foot arch injury last year. It pissed me off too cause he was on my fantasy team and I was absolutely desperate for blocks with him and brand both being out for the majority of the season.

That said when he is healthy he can straight up ball. He rebounds like a machine, and collects blocks like larry hughes collects bricks. He brings a ton of energy to the floor and has a very solid post game. At his size he is extremely mobile and I love his high skill level.

Camby no way I want. I would have wanted him at the deadline. That was different, because I knew the Cavs could address his position long-term this off-season.

Kaman is someone they should definitely consider. He just needs to stay healthy. I mean there's not a lot of truly good 7 foot centers. Kaman is good when he's healthy.

Getting a guy like Kaman would make it way easier for the Cavs to consider someone like Villanueva with the mle imo. They would compliment each other pretty well. That would be a nice inside/outside combo on the offensive end. Sort of like the Lewis/Howard combo for Orlando. Also imagine being able to have Big Z and AV coming off the bench for your team. I've been on the Kaman bandwagon for a while and if they draft Griffin which is a given barring something crazy happening. I think Kaman might be able to be had at a very cheap price.

I don't see it being a "cheap" price per say, but I definitely think he could be had. This team can really put itself to another level in terms of talent this off season.

I wish there was no luxury tax and we could get a Redd/Jefferson, Kaman, Villanueva all in the same off season...I could safely say I see that being a title team haha.:chuckles:

What I find interesting about Kaman is that he is still learning the game. In the past two years, he has switched off Ritalin and began an experimental treatment for his learning disability.

Forget Kaman.....

They give Ritalin to freaking 3 year olds??? WTF?!?!?!

No wonder our public schools produce an endless stream of mindless drones....

If you think the Ritalin is making my job easier as an inner city public school teacher, you have another thing coming.

Ironically, I have kicked around doing a discertation with this title: ADD in the White World and ADD for Everyone Else.

Meds are over-perscribed for suburbanites, yet in public housing, very few families take their kids to regular doctor appointments. The media covers what happens with suburbanite kids, but nobody talks about the needs of kids in foster homes.

I'm way off-topic now, so I will shut up and thank you for noticing.

Hi, I've watched the over-medication of your average suburbanite student firsthand. I've been on the receiving end of such garbage. People wonder why I think the mental health industry is a joke. Chris Kaman is a prime example. Ritalin at 3?

Far too often, the suburbanite parents don't want to deal with the fact that they spend close to no time with their kids. They want to blame their kids misbehaving on anything and everything but themselves. Hence the desire to over-medicate children that choose not to listen to their parents.

It's a ****ing joke, and thanks to the insurance industry, and this "PC, raise your children in pastel colored rooms with adult contemp. playing nonstop, Dr. Phil" type shit is just making the issue even worse. But this deserve an entire OT thread about it. Give me Kaman and Childress and I call this offseason a massive success.

but, but, but... he's German!
