Yi to Bucks: "Go to hell"

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
"Rather we want to find a team suitable for Yi's growth. That's the root of the problem," he added.

 priceless

"This is not -- as media reports have said -- because Milwaukee, as a city with very few Chinese people, is not good for Yi's commercial development," Chen said.

"Rather we want to find a team suitable for Yi's growth. That's the root of the problem," he added.

Does Chen honestly expect people to actually believe this?

You know your city and team sucks when he'd rather go back to China.

Where is the bum now? It's clear he doesn't wanna be a Buck, hahahahhaha.

1. his agent is Dan Fagan. how nice.

2. i really hope this arrogance comes back to bite him in the arse. that's just really nasty stuff. it's wrong and unfair. right, Danny?

3. this Chinese official is not only lying about their motives, he is also accusing a team in the world's best basketball league of ineptitude. a Chinese guy! excuse me?
Also, why the hell would he be concerned about Yi's "development". It's not like he'll ever don a Tigers uniform again...

communism sucks.

Looks like the big bad Bucks just got bigger and badder :chuckles:

Jul 19 - ESPN.com's Chris Sheridan reports veteran center Jake Voskuhl has reached agreement with the Milwaukee Bucks on a one-year, $3 million contract.

News:

Yi's saga turns for the better, Chen Haitao stresses "3 principles"

Chinanews Beijing 7/19 (Reporter Wang Zumin) Yi Jianlian's destination in NBA may getting close to be resolved. This afternoon, Chen Haitao, general manager of the Guangdong Hongyuan club, Yi's CBA club accpted interview with the Chinanews reporter. Chen said Bucks high level management may come to China next week and conduct substantial with Hongyuan.

On the NBA draft on 6/29, Yi Jianlian was drafted by the Bucks at 6th seed. Considering the playing style, culture etc. Yi's agent team submited request to the Bucks for a trade.

But from the information disclosed in the today's interview with Guangdong Hongyuan general manager Chen Haitao, Yi Jianlian absolutely will not come back to CBA. The hope he joins the Bucks increases greatly.

Chen Haitao claimed that after Yi was selected by Bucks, Hongyuan and the Bucks have kept their comminication link open. Around 7/10, Chen Haitaon received a phone call from the secretary of the Bucks owner (?), and they further discussed the matter or Yi joins the Bucks.

Information from the Bucks says, Bucks general manager Harris and player personel manager David Babcock will arrive in China next week. Chen said he also heard the information, but have not received the final confirmation letter. Chen said that only when the Bucks representative arrive in China, can they start actual negociation.

Chen stated the attitude on Yi's destination: 1) It has to help with the preparation of the Olympics for the national team, help the future development of Yi; 2) Join NBA is Yi's dream, Hongyuan will try their best to make his dream come true; 3) Try to achieve a "Win-win" solution -- if Yi stays with the Bucks, hope he can be happy and his talent can be fully utilized; If there is other trade opportunity, they hope to achieve agreement with the Bucks.

Here's the thing though.. If he had any interest joining the Bucks, he would have been there.. Way too much is being put on his handlers, and not enough is being put on him... He's not caught in the middle.. The guy does not want to be a Milwaukee Buck.. Regardless of the reason, they're his reasons..

If he ever shows up, you're literally getting a guy who is going to be miserable, disinterested, and will be gone in one of two ways... Either (A)-He plays poorly in hopes that he gets moved.. (obviously this tactic is not above anything he has shown thus far) Or (B)- He leaves once his contract is up...This is not a guy that will be a cornerstone for Milwaukee's future...

There's a reason Milwaukee is pulling teeth to get this guy... His play, passion, and overall desire in Milwaukee will not be anywhere near what it would be if he was elsewhere..

More news:

A Beijing newspaper is investigating a story it published this week that quoted the owner of the Guangdong Tigers basketball club saying forward Yi Jianlian would "definitely not" sign with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Liu Hongjiang, a team vice president, said he spoke later with the reporter and "expressed strong anger." "The club supports Yi playing in the NBA and is very willing to work with the Bucks," Liu said. "We are waiting for any chance to cooperate with the Bucks." Liu went on to say that he doesn't like the thought of Yi playing for the Bucks, but "this is not the same thing as saying he will not play with Milwaukee."

Surely, Yi has some blame here, but he's "young and dumb"...much like CDT.

However, Yi's opinions are based on either ignorance or preconceived notions driven by biased media reports (note ESPN running with the bogus "Yi will not play for Bucks" report without substantiating it).

Once he gets here, he'll be fine. Much ado about nothing. Giving less than his best would not be in his commercial best interests nor the best interests of his National Team.

This is why Bucks conversation on this board has been rendered totally useless. Bucks fan(s) go overboard in their optimism and Cavs fans relish the negative. There is no objective discussion about it. The discussion gravitates towards one extreme or the other.

I think that falls more in line with wishful thinking than it does anything else.

He's not been in Milwaukee or even discussed Milwaukee because he's simply not pleased with the prospects of playing there nor does he possess the desire to do so.. Handlers are handlers, and they are some of most influential people in these young guys lives... Whether it's explaining to him why it's not in his best interest to play there, or getting his parents, girlfriend and closest friends on board with the plan, these guys are going to get their way, one way or another...

It reminds me alot of the Marbury situation... They tried to get him in New york his rookie year, and it didn't work, then they really put the squeeze on them in his 2nd or 3rd year to get him out of Minnesota...

This issue is bigger than Marbury. There's a lot a stake here and the Bucks have all the chips stacked in their favor. In regards to Yi's apparent opinions on Milwaukee, I'll continue to say he has no basis for having those opinions. He's never been here, doesn't know the city, nor has he seen his teammates play. So any preconceived opinions are just that. If he came here and played and then drew those conclusions, then they'd have merit. Right now it's just posturing from the handlers, Fegan, and Nike.

It must be noted that David Stern has a vested interest in what's going on here. He will NOT allow a foreign, or domestic for that matter, institution bastardize the spirit of the NBA draft. Yi will play in the NBA next season and he will play in Milwaukee.
