Yi to Bucks: "Go to hell"

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know it's bigger than Steph.. Point being was the following: Steph couldn't be "starbury" in Minny.. They wanted him out in 1997, they got him out in 1999.. Yi cannot become a star in Milwaukee..

For example: KG..For as good as he is, he just can't be marketed in Minny accordingly.. Same with Yi in Milwaukee..

If Yi is a flop ? they won't say a word.. If he becomes a star ? the beating of the drum will be loud..

The Bucks biggest stars were Oscar and Lew.. Moncrief was nice, Cummings was pretty good, and the big 3 were a nice trio.. But again, unmarketable.. Ray even had a movie after his 2nd year, and nobody paid attention... He had great duels with AI in the '01 playoffs, yet nothing..

If the star is an undeniable elite star, it's possible, but they have to be can't miss... Which is exactly what Yi is not.. He's all potential, and is anything from a sure bet.. He has to be marketed properly from the outset, otherwise nobody cares.. China doesn't produce many stars over here, so I can understand why they are hesitant and not convinced Milwaukee is the place to do that for one of their very few marketable athletes over here.. Milwaukee is yet to produce a star since Robin Yount..

It's a business for them as well...

Shooting 50% from the line tonight TJ

I'm young...but dumb? Don't think so...you come in here every year with your vastly inferior team and talk down to us like we're the Pacers or something. You're a homer...we're not being homers when we tell you the Bucks aren't better than the Cavs...we're being honest. It hurts, but in time [3-5 years] your team will be back.

You preaching the offensive efficiency bit last year was hilarious...and the year before telling us you'd be better because you'd be paying Michael Redd 3 times his old salary and adding Jamal "I fell down and I can't get back up" Magloire and Bobby "Bucks Version of Larry Hughes" Simmons would enable you to finish 2 seeds higher than the Cavs...

Even though both of our summers that year turned out terrible we still improved to 50 wins. You guys face planted after a decent start.

You've got an intelligent basketball mind when you're homer glasses aren't on. I'm not dumb for saying Yi won't play there. It's been done before.

Francis forced himself through Vancouver..Ferry forced his way out of LA..Eli forced his way out of San Diego...

Him being foreign has nothing to do with his ability to be able to force himself to another team. If Jeff Green said "I'm not playing for Seattle because I hate rain and Starbucks" he'd probably be able to force himself out of there after the 30 days expired after he signed his contract. Anyone can do this if they so choose.

Oh snap.. Yi is talking..

Regarding his agent/handlers: (and the reports that it's them and not him handling this situation)

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=afp-basketnbachnbucksyi&prov=afp&type=lgns

"I've read some of the reports but I don't think he has made too many decisions for me," Yi told Chinese reporters while training with the national team in Beijing on Thursday, and his comments were carried by the China Daily.

"It's clear that he works for me, so everything he is doing is based on my ideas," Yi said.

TJ is a F***ing joke. Ive never e-met a person so damn stubborn and foolish...

I'll say again, China is a country based on community. Which is why the last name comes first. Yao has a strong Chinese support in Houston. In Milwaukee, Yi does not.

A Mac, this is your cue...

(at least temporarily, please) :banhim:

That's just the thing PIP. Yi has the potential, from a marketing standpoint, to be MUCH bigger than Starbury and Garnett. Yi is a transcendent talent...not on the floor or in the same vein as a Bryant or James...because he has 1.3 billion strong behind him. No NBA star, save Ming, can boast that.

Yi is bigger than the confines that any small market can but on him. Look at what James has done for Cleveland. He's not struggling for marketing opportunities is he? Last I checked, the city of Milwaukee is almost twice the size of Cleveland. Milwaukee is the 23rd largest market in America.

If the player can ball, marketing dollars will come. Has Brett Favre had any problems getting marketing opportunities throughout his carreer in tiny Green Bay Wisconsin? No way.

I understand your point about "can't miss stars", but Yi has the potential to be transcendent unless he's a complete bust. Even Yao made the allstar team over Shaquille Oneal as a rookie. Endorsement dollars in the China market will come regardless of what city Yi plays in. In fact, the MAJORITY of Yi's marketing dollars will be generated by the Chinese economy.

The Bucks will go to China and cut some financial deal with Yi's CBA club and Yi will be a Bucks for at least the next 5 years.

CDT if not for Joma, I'd call you the ultimate Homer. :chuckles:

Read between the lines. How can someone without knowledge of a city or team draw credible conclusions about said team and city? Clearly Yi is being "handled" by Goudong management and Fegan with heavy influence from Nike prospects.

Yi's handlers winning = David Stern losing.

Food for thought...David Stern is undefeated.

woah woah woah, im behind you in the homer catalog tj

Jul 20 - "Dan Fegan is a responsible agent, and I have a lot of fun working with him," Yi Jianlian told reporters at the national team training camp in Beijing. "So far we have cooperated really well and our relationship is not as bad as media and fans speculate."

As Yi's stand-off with the Bucks continues, many in China have started to criticize Fegan believing him to be the main barrier preventing the player from committing to the franchise.

But Yi said this is not the case.

"I've read some of the media reports, but I don't think he has made too many decisions for me," he said. "It's clear that he works for me, so everything he is doing is based on my ideas."

Bahahaha
