Your top 5 choices at #19

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
MYoung and Randolph, what are your top choices at #19?

My top 5:

1.) Chris Douglas-Roberts
2.) Bill Walker
3.) Brandon Rush
4.) Nicolas Batum
5.) Ty Lawson

As you can see, I have no interest in a bigman... I want someone that can create their own shot, or create for others, while being able to defend the perimeter.

I'm very curious to see who slips... its so tough to really predict the first 18 picks accurately enough to tell you my top 5.

Here would be my top 5 draft strategies:
1. Best PF/C value
2. Best scorer at any position
3. Package the pick with Wally and AV
4. Best shooter and defender combination, regardless of position
105. Draft Budinger and immediately slit own wrists

I think Speights is our best decision

Because,

He can shoot at the PF position, which is great
He can shoot long range as well
Good on the Post
Defence?

CDR is good at creating shots but, what if he is another Shannon?
Rush is a well rounded player i wouldn't mind picking him up... but we have Boobie and West...?

West still has time to grow, we think if he isn't good this year replace him... that isnt the point here

But we need a Forward, Ben has nothing on the O
and when Z isnt on the floor Joe Smith is our big man scorer while Varajao does NOTHING

So i think our lineup if we got speights would be

D-West (Jones backup)
Wally (Boobie backup)
Lebron (Sasha)
Ben Wallace (Smith)
Z (Speights)

Our backup lineup would be our shooting lineup, But with speights as the inside guy

If Wally is still our SG at the start of next season, I am going to cry.

1. Donte Green
2. Batum
3. Speights
4. Rush
5. CDR

No Koufos/Budinger please

We may have a shot at getting a healthy Livingston, or Redd... so lets wait and see

Plus, Don't we have Boobs?

I'd rather have Wally in there than Livingston. Even though I'm a huge supporter of players coming back from knee injuries(Gary Baxter, favorite Brownie), I just don't know about Shaun here. Plus, like I mentioned before, I love Boobie in the role we currently use him in. 6th man type deal and he can come in and quickly bring us some offense. Hes one of the best three pointers in the league, so thats what makes it such a huge threat. I wouldn't mind him starting, if need be, but I like the way we use him now.

I didn't even like Livingston's game when he was healthy... I sure as hell don't want anything to do with him now..

Exactly my thoughts. Let's not get crazy here...

Well im just saying though IF he gets healthy hes a decent player

But still

getting redd is nice

Since the draft is now 2 weeks away thought it would be good to get everyone's opinion and ranking of what players who have a somewhat realistic chance of still being there at 19 they would like the Cavs to draft.
  • 1a. Jason Thompson
  • 1b. Darrell Arthur
  • 3. JaVale McGee
  • 4. Nicolas Batum
  • 5. Brandon Rush

Others that I kind-of liked were: Donte Green; Marreese Speights; and CDR.

Donte seems like an all-or-nothing player, and he's gonna take a while to contribute.

Mareese Speights was hard to pass-up, but I think that McGee's potential is too great to pass-up if he's available; Batum and Rush are more ready to contribute now, so I had to put them above Speights. I'd take him if none of the others were available, and he was still on the board.

Chris Douglas Roberts - It is rare that a college team has two REALLY good players who are ready for the NBA. So, I had to ask myself: Was CDR better this year because of Rose, or did CDR make Rose better? Anyone who has watched him knows that Chris is not very quick, doesn't have a great shot, and is pretty slow defensively. I think he'd be worth a shot @ #25 or lower, but there are too many better prospects to take CDR this high. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he dropped to the 2nd round.

Thomas and Arthur are the sleepers of this draft IMO. Either of them at #19 is great...But I prefer Thomas, although Arthur generally gets higher praise. I think that if Thomas had played at a big school, he might be the consensus #1 pick. I watched him play 3 times, and this kid is AMAZING!!! His potential is limitless!!! I'd trade Varejao for him in an INSTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That being said, I think the Cavs would select Arthur... who is pretty amazing himself. Having Arthur would be almost like having a poor-man's LeBron. He is extremely quick and can jump out of the gym. Him running next to LeBron would be an AWESOME sight!

Well, if it makes you feel better, I guarantee he won't be our starting SG by the trade deadline next season.

Let me get this straight, you say you want someone who can create their own shot or create for others, then #2 on your list you have Bill "Taller Shannon Brown" Walker?

Walker is Gerald Green without the inconsistent jumper.
