Andy Katz: Cavs offer #1 overall, Tristan, Waiters for Love... Rejected.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I see some are now coming along to the trade proposal I suggested it just makes much more sense take Waiters outta it and put ethier the Sac pick or Memphis pick in much better trade IMO...

see if you can get Minny to get onboard with that....lol

Ya I'd like too but better yet see if Grant can hell should we throw in both 2nd rounders to sweeten the deal/keep Dion?

Kevin Love > Waiters, TT, #1 overall. Shit, I'll say it again, I'd throw in another lottery pick or two.

Kevin Love is an Olympian who hasn't even reached his prime yet, these opportunities don't come around often. Two bonafide stars and some cap space is better than one bonafide star and a couple of potentially good players who might not even fit together. I get that everyone wants to stand up for guys like Waiters and TT, and thats great, I won't be bummed if they're still around in October, but shit, it's Kevin Love; the best rebounder in the world and perfect complement to the top young PG in the world.....

I agree everyone isn't understanding that if we had Love and Irving on the same team that makes an immediate top 4 seed in the east. Especially if they could find a way to keep Waiters because that would be a fun starting 5...Irving Waiters (Pierce-Marion-free agent or draft pick-Gee 2 of those 5) Love Andy. But at the end of the day I think that no way they trade him.

People also seem to be overlooking the fact that as much potential talent as we'd be giving out, the salaries match. So we'd have a roster poster trade of Kyrie, Love, Andy, Zeller, Gee, and Ellington + 20 million in cap space + the #19 pick and all of our future first round picks intact(our own 2014, 2015, and 2016 + the Kings, Pick, Heat pick, Grizzlies pick).

So I understand the view of those that just like Dion, TT, and the #1 more than Love, but anyone who thinks we'd have a barren roster around Kyrie and Love for the next 3-4 years is way off base.

If that deal was done, I suppose Grant's next move would be to get Pierce. Now, things are getting interesting. But, who the hell plays SG? You'd have to get lucky with that 19th pick, or sign another FA. And, what do you do when Andy gets hurt? If Zeller and Love are our front line, we'll have to score 110 points to win most games.

What a strange trade proposal.

I like the potential off TT and Dion, but the reality is their numbers came on a team that was the 3rd worst in the league. Someone is going to score, so Dion and TT did. This doesn't make them all stars though. Not sure Love is the answer though. Minny hasn't won with him and the injury concerns are huge with him and they are asking way to much considering these facts.

But we need to stop over acting like tt and dion are the next coming of Kobe and Karl Malone.

To be fair, not a whole lot of top five picks are playing for winning teams their first or second years in the league. Players take time to get better and develop, and as they do their teams get better. We see it all the time. Add in the fact that the Cavs had absolutely no interest in winning this year (for evidence, see our bench the first half of the season) and had a coach who was visibly mailing in his three years here and it's pretty hard to judge the two of them based on their team's performance this early in their respective careers.

If we don't see some significant strides from both players and the team this year, then I'll start to get worried. But I would like to see at least a season more of these guys under a coach who actually gives a crap before we start talking about trading all of them away for an alleged "superstar."

That's obviously the case, but he didn't have to say anything at all. He could have simply ignored that tweet and no one would have blamed him for it. To me, it's more interesting that he chose to comment on it at all when he clearly didn't have to.

if you were tristan and dion and hearing a bunch of talk about how your gm is trying to get rid of you, wouldnt that be a nice thing to hear?

Sure, but he could have just texted them himself and kept the issue private. Instead, he chose to publicly state it, which is why I found it interesting.
