The 2014 Cavs Off-Season Thread (not coaching-related)

And drafting Wiggins, who would be great at the 2, doesn't?
I don't think Wiggins would naturally be great at the two. With Kyrie Irving I think he can get away with it because he is such a great ball handler. Wiggins can defend either wing spot but offensively I think is more of a small forward. He really reminds me of a more athletic paul george who has played both wing spots.

So guys

Wiggins or Parker?

Parker. It is who I want and who some guys say we should draft. Jeff Goodman was emphatic that Parker is who he would take. IIRC, Marc Spears said he would take Parker over Wiggins. He said a scout he really trusts said Parker for sure.

Parker is the guy who will step up his game to compete in the NBA, while Wiggins will likely be timid and defer much of his career until he realizes he is more athletic than 99% of the league. I know Parker's defense is bad but good NBA defense is based on team defense more than individual defenders.

Wiggins really reminds me of Demar Derozan/Rudy Gay more than T Mac/Paul George at this point. He definitely is young but really unpolished and his personality doesn't seem to be what our team needs (leadership and competitiveness).

Wojo reporting that AA from Olando is very available. would love to jump on that!!!

Yea I like Afflalo but if Wiggins is the pick it would be a curious move.

would you jump on that if it costs you Waiters? because that's probably what it might take with us not having a mid first round pick

I wouldn't trade Waiters for Afflalo. Waiters is already as good if not better, and is only 22. But the Cavs probably would.

How many years does Thorton have? does this help clear cap space?

That would be a coup. He's an expiring this season.

Jack: $6.3 million for 2 more years, team option in 3rd year

Thornton: $8.7 million but expires after next season

Seems like it makes a lot of sense financially. We get to dump Jack's horrible contract and though Thornton is overpaid, he is an expiring contract who can bring scoring off the bench. I see him in the C.J. Miles role for this team.

Do it Griffin! We need Jack's contract off the team to have more flexibility in the future.

Please god let this happen. Just a great trade in every way.

I'm not fond of Griffin. It seems like we are trying to rebuild all over again. I'm tired. What is his direction for this team?
