Kyrie Irving Trade Ideas

Westbrook and Lebron on the same team? Holy shit... those fast breaks would be insane.

Only kinda kidding, would they shoot free throws to decide whose turn it is to yell at Love? Flip a coin? Rock paper scissors?

Kevin Durant leaves OKC in the summer. Westbrook, with 1 year on his deal, then gets put on the block because OKC rightly fears they can't keep him. Cavs offer up IRving straight up for Westbrook. Bam. I'm great.

Anyone else think it would be hilarious for Kyrie to join Dion again?

That's probably the most realistic way to trade Kyrie and get better value.

But I don't know if Westbrook would stay here long-term.

Of course it's a trade you do without thinking twice if something like that were presented. But it wouldn't come without any risk.

I don't know where Westbrook's mind is. I don't know if he likes being second banana. If he wants to play in a bigger market, etc..

But you take the risk regardless. You're getting a better player that's still relatively young and improves your chances of winning it all.

Definitely an interesting scenario. Our 3 point shooting would be pretty bad, though.

Cp3 and LeBron are close. He could just demand to get out. Once that happens, it's tough to get a better player for him than KI.

I don't see CP3 demanding a trade to Cleveland. Just because he's close with LeBron.

We are a dysfunctional organization. We have unstable management, we don't have a head coach. This place is only desirable because of LeBron.

I think Paul likes his spot in LA and playing under Doc too much for that.

Paul never demanded a trade to Cleveland his first go-around. And we tried trading for him, and were laughed at.

He eventually did demand a trade, and one of his requests was to go to a big market.

So, I don't know why people think he'd want to come here all of a sudden. Especially all the turmoil that's gone on here. You think someone like Paul is thinking I want some of that?

He'd probably tell LB get out of there and find a way to join me in LA. Not the other way around.

LB can't get his super friends to come to Cleveland. They don't want to be here.

Leave chokin' ass Chris Paul in LA and keep the guy who wants the ball with the game on the line and gets the job done.

He doesn't need to go to the media and such. He can just get traded because Clippers "like" our offer.
And he is in a way different part of career now.

Part of why Doc took the job was because of CP3. Mostly why Paul re-signed was because of Doc.

I don't see either wanting to part from the other. Even LB himself said the coach he'd like to play for the most is Doc. Players seem to love playing for him.

The Clippers might be in position to get Durant this summer. I could see a Blake for Durant swap. That alone could change everything on him having any desire at all of leaving.

I think Paul coming here is very unlikely.

In regards to CP3 and whether or not he'd come here I would note that CP3 is nearing the end of his prime along with LBJ. LBJ wants to win one here in Cleveland but CP3 would also be etching his name in stone if he were to win one here and I'm sure he just wants to win one period.

I believe it's a win/win for the both of them and there's no doubt that placing CP3 and, more importantly, his experience as well as his IQ will make the Cavs a clear-cut title shot contender. Trading or keeping Love would just be icing on the cake.

You wouldn't have to worry about simple things like who brings the ball up or if your starting point guard should play the two. You wouldn't have to worry about placing your teams best defender on the point guard solely because your point guard is a complete detriment defensively.

A Chris Paul trade would force the Cavs to play within a well executed offense as well as improve defensively specifically in that respective position.

The NBA today is a players league and we are lucky to be in a position to offer a high caliber player along with some icing to get it done.

The book is not yet written but if the playoffs are not a success this year then this is something the organization will consider. I don't think there's any doubt about that with Kyrie's up and down play throughout his career.

When?

Seriously, as compared to Chris Paul, when has Kyrie gotten the job done? Kyrie got a bunch of playoff successes stacked up as compared to Chris Paul that I don't know about?

I'm very confused. Why would either Kyrie or Chris Paul be considered chokers?

Chris Paul has come closer than anyone to winning a game 7 at the buzzer. Kyrie has hit several game winning/tying shots in his short career.

It really isn't all on Paul that he's never gotten to a conference finals. I mean, the dude has been in a stacked west his entire career. How many series has he been upset in (honestly asking)?

PS- This thread is bullshit.

As far as Irving, over his career he has been one the NBA leaders in 4th Quarter scoring and just had his notable overtime free throw shooting streak snapped. As a Cavs fan, I am sure you are aware of Irving"s late game production; I'm also quite sure the Cavs color commentator Mr. Cavalier refers to KI as 'Mr. 4th Quarter' for this reason. As a Cavs fan myself, I am hopeful I will finally observe KI bringing this end-game production to a playoff run, free from injury and off-court distractions.

Latest Chris Paul playoff team choke:
  • Rockets back in conference finals first 1st time since '97

  • HOUSTON (AP) The Houston Rockets are heading to the Western Conference finals for the first time in 18 years after overcoming a 3-1 series deficit to eliminate the Los Angeles Clippers.
  • ''It's the ultimate confidence-booster,'' James Harden said. ''There's only a handful of teams that's done that. We fought back. We fought three really hard games and came away with it.''
  • Harden scored 31 points, Dwight Howard had 16 points and 15 rebounds and the Rockets never trailed in a 113-100 victory over the Clippers on Sunday, sending them to the conference finals for the first time since 1997.
  • It's the ninth time in NBA history that a team has overcome a 3-1 series deficit to win a playoff series.
  • The Rockets overcame a 19-point third-quarter deficit in Game 6 on Thursday night to stay alive.

Yeah I'm not so sure CP3 would fit as nicely offensively as everyone thinks. If you guys think Kyrie can't do much without the ball (I strongly disagree but whatever) then CP3 is absolutely worthless without it.

And given we have LeBron on this team, I don't think we should completely take the ball out of his hands in favor of CP3. Even if he may run a more structured offense.

There's no doubt the move makes us better defensively, though. But Kyrie being 6 years younger, and IMO a better fit on offense, makes this a pretty tough move to make. He'd have to have a pretty poor showing in the playoffs for me to want to do it, but at that point the Clippers might not want to. I'm very curious to see how he plays in the playoffs and early next season after he's had the Summer to workout.

Do you see what you've done here?

You've compared Kyrie's regular season 4th quarter personal success to Chris Paul's playoff team success, or lack thereof. Speaks for itself as to why it should be ignored.

I disagree with your point; even though injured Irving's team went to the finals last season. At some point I will review his playoff results and respond in more depth.

My recall of Paul's latest choke was easier, as it was an historic collapse.
