2017 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They have actually done a fairly good job overall in that department when it comes to international signings since they keep finding diamonds in the rough. If I remember correctly Ramirez, Gonzalez, Salazar, Mejia, Yandy and Urshela are all international signings for us.

Read, then post.

Never said they didn't scout well...

Said this is the most I've seen them SPEND...not scout...

*sighs* I was more adding not arguing against your point. Even though they haven't spent, they have done a very good job of bringing in players. Though if I remember correctly the guys they have spent more money on haven't panned out as well. Wasn't Paulino a guy they spent the most on in the class (1.1 mil signing bonus) while guys like Ramirez and the guys i mentioned where under a mil in the 500k area?

Bobby Bradley with the 3 hardest stages of the cycle completed through 4 innings. 3-3 with a HR, 3B, 2B, and 5 RBI.

I don't believe so.

Bobby Bradley is still the prospect that makes me the most excited.

Still McKenzie for me.

But if you're a Tribe fan, Bradley's strides this year better make you moist, especially his absurdly improved contact rates. Think he sees a nice bump in the mid season prospect rankings.

McKenzie is the only pitcher that gets me worked up. Only one.

Lucroy backing out was the greatest thing to happen to this team.

Checked out Brady Aiken's General stats but didn't see anything advanced but I didn't spend a ton of time searching. Any insight as to how he's doing/progressing? How much do we value him at this point?

Well he isn't doing well at all. His control has been horrible this season, but no one would answer me on how his velocity was this season. If it's 3-4 mph slower on his fastball then I would be worried, but if his velocity is back to normal, then he just has to get his mechanics back on track. Either way way he has at least another year in A ball if not two before he moves up.

Still a young kid. As long as the velocity is back, he can work on the rest. the velocity was an issue last year if I recall.
I've read a couple times that you have to get accustomed to your arm once you heal from the procedure.

Baseball Prospectus released their top-50 prospect list. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=32224

Mejia @ #3, McKenzie @ #35.

3. Francisco Mejia, C, Cleveland Indians

Why He’ll Succeed: Mejia barrels everything and has shown power from both sides of the plate. He’s a potential 7 hit, 5 pop catcher, and he’s improved enough defensively to make us confident he sticks as a backstop.

Why He Might Fail: We’re pretty confident Mejia is a catcher. If we were positive Mejia is a catcher, he’d have a good case for number one. His smaller frame might not hold up under the rigors of a 120-game major league catching assignment, making him more of a C/DH type. Bat could play there too though.

35. Triston McKenzie, RHP, Cleveland Indians

Why He’ll Succeed: He already dominates with a fastball in the low-90s and a potential plus curve. Just imagine the potential above-average major league starter he’ll be 30 pounds and three extra mph from now.

Why He Might Fail: His physical comp is closer to Christian Bale in The Machinist than it is a major league starter. Despite gaudy age-relative-to-league performance you are still betting on projection that may or may not come.

Would be number 1 if they were positive Mejia is a catcher?

That is pretty exciting stuff right there. One of the top bats in all of the minors just happens to be a catcher? Our catcher?

Cant wait to see him in 1.5 years in the show.

Lucroy really screwed the Brewers
