2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dagg, Dagg, Dagg....

I'll see you the week of the combine, where Allen's athleticism and size/arm strength combination will shine so bright that people will peg this man as the second coming of Cam Newton even though he's really Ryan Tannehill/Paxton Lynch.

Have you not learned ANYTHING?

You mean 2800 yard, 66%, 30 & 7 Cam Newton?!? The Cam Newton that rushed for 1473 yards with 20 touchdowns as a senior?!? That guy? You guys are TRIPPING BILLIES.

Just sounds like GM speak, to me. Just like the "best possible player" garbage. Shut the fuck up Dorsey, you're taking a QB even if he isn't the best player in the draft, we all know it.

Sometimes people put way too much stock into what these coaches and GMs say. Their job is literally to not tell you anything.

I think the key takeaway from what he said was that he loves Danny Shelton. That to me means he sees Shelton as a long term piece. He gushed over Kirksey too. So I would imagine that if there are going to be some guys who get sent packing because they aren't "his guys" I don't suspect Shelton, Kirksey, or Bitonio to be any of them.

Cam Newton had more rushing yards in a 2010 game against LSU than Josh Allen has had all year.

Guys, this is the 1st round of the NFL draft we are talking about, not the NBA. Maybes and projects will be taken later. Does anyone else want in on this action?

How are we feeling about Jamie Collins? If by "we" I mean "you". I am too flojo to look up his contract and injury recovery status. I am assuming he is a keeper for sure, just want to hear it from someone else.

Dude, you are right, this is the NFL. A league in which the likes of Manziel & Tebow got drafted in the 1st round :chuckle:

Seeing as he listed the vast majority of this team's quality players on that list, we shouldn't be too afraid that he's going to send any worthwhile guys packing.

I mean, you aren't wrong, you Buckeye homer you. :chuckle: The best argument for him getting drafted in R1 is that the picks can be irrational and prone to group think. I am OK with that - I think it'll happen, but not with Allen, and not in the 1st round.

I don't see the sizzle. Tebow was a God fearing angel, a leader of men, a dual threat guy, marketable, and did this:
2007 AP Player of the Year Award
2007 Consensus All-America
2007 Davey O'Brien Award
2007 Heisman Memorial Trophy
2007 Maxwell Award
2008 Manning Award
2008 Maxwell Award
2008 SEC Offensive Player of the Year

He had dual threat stats too, but obviously he was playing with some very talented players around him.

Manziel passed for 4K yards as a Sophomore, 70% (!) with 37 & 13 and was a dual threat too (although he ran much less as a Sophomore). His behavior was.... sophomoric (ZING).... and his physical profile was whack, along with throwing mechanics.

I didn't like either of those picks in the 1st round, but I can understand the hype thought process. I don't even feel slightly erect at the thought of Josh Allen. The hype machine would need an all-time great performance to get him taken in the 1st, and I am OK with that if I am getting paid 1:1.

Two great examples of why college production just isn't THAT important.

Edit: And what does Ohio State have to do with any of this..?

Good lord let's get this thread back on track, the Josh Allen back and forth just isn't doing it for me. What are some prospects we should be on the lookout for with our 2nd rounder picks?

yep and one of the reasons that it is so damn difficult to predict how a lot of these guys are going to do in the NFL.

It was totally a troll job. OSU has absolutely nothing to do with it. You just keep getting called a homer for no reason and I thought I'd pile on. I am a big OSU fan too, and although our bet is for a donation to the site, maybe I will spend his $ on some OSU gear. If I can get a full $200 allocation on this bet, maybe I'll get OSU tickets.

$200 should get you about half a ticket to a marquee matchup against the Beavers!

I'm gonna steer the conversation elsewhere.

I really hate to do this, but when is it time to start looking for a replacement for Joe Thomas? That time must be fast approaching, as he's getting up there in age and already has suffered one major injury. LT is going to become a major hole and priortiy in the next couple years.

Running backs (a position of need and where I think the RB run begins); moar DBs; Walter fb just updated a monster mock:

I like this one b/c we end up with Rosen & Minkah in R1.
R2: is Damian Harris RB at 33- I don't know shit about him but hot take is I don't like it, then Hurst (DE/DT Michigan) at 37. Can't say I agree with that either.
63. Cleveland Browns: Darius Leonard, LB, South Carolina State

Jamie Collins hasn't lived up to expectations thus far, and he's getting paid more than $10 million in each of the next couple of seasons. The Browns could decide to go healthier and cheaper.

65. Cleveland Browns: James Washington, WR, Oklahoma State

The Browns have gotten Josh Gordon back from his long suspension, but can they really trust him? They'll likely have to use one of their many early picks on a receiver.

I have the Browns taking a safety earlier in this 2018 NFL Mock Draft. They'll need to double up on defensive backs to fix their horrid secondary.

If anyone complains about taking Hurst with our 2nd pick, in the 2nd round? It's just straight bias
